My client is looking for an IT Systems Engineer to help build, maintain and update their IT infrastructure, support their staff and deploy and maintain desktop computers. You will be part of a team delivering critical IT systems and services, ensuring availability, performance and security. You must have an aptitude for helping people, IT hardware, operating systems and Microsoft products, and be willing to learn. You will be exposed to production IT servers, and learn how to create, maintain and support the use of those systems.


Responsibilities

  • Report to IT manager and support IT work programmes
  • Monitoring installed systems and infrastructure
  • Checking automated software updates are applied
  • Create user accounts for new starters, and remove accounts of leavers
  • Purchase, configure and install desktop hardware and software as required for new starters, as required
  • Deploy desk phones, mobile phones and troubleshoot users’ telephony problems
  • Assist with build, configuration, and test of servers, application software and system management tools
  • Assist with security audits, backup procedures and redundancy strategies
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 1st level IT support for users and assist the IT Managers Service partner helpdesk
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting IT systems in Windows environments

Desirable

  • Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Experience with IT monitoring systems (e.g. syslog)
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., Powershell, VBScript)
  • Networking knowledge (e.g. OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
