Job Description

The department of Quality Engineering (under Technology) plays a crucial role in the software development process. This department is primarily responsible for ensuring that software products being developed within the Technology org at Turnitin meet or exceed predetermined quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating closely with development teams and Product Owners to deliver exceptional products and services.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases to uphold the quality of software releases.
  • Sustaining robust automated testing procedures within the Continuous Integration (CI) framework while actively enhancing code coverage.
  • Participating in the assessment and adoption of emerging automation testing tools.
  • Advocating for the integration of test automation wherever feasible.
  • Lead the development of scalable test automation frameworks, and mentoring the team in creating resilient automated tests.
  • Apply strong programming skills, including OOP concepts and design patterns, to enhance the quality of automated test scripts.
  • Oversee and participate in web service and API testing, ensuring seamless CI/CD integration.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of automated testing within the CI/CD process, ensuring continuous improvement of testing practices.
  • Mentor junior quality engineers, providing guidance, training, and knowledge sharing to elevate the overall quality assurance capability of the team.
  • Continuously explore and implement best practices, emerging tools, and techniques to enhance overall software quality and testing efficiency.
  • Demonstrate strong multitasking and prioritization skills to manage multiple testing initiatives in a dynamic environment.
  • Promote a culture of proactive quality assurance practices throughout the organization.
  • Communicate effectively across teams and stakeholders, with exceptional attention to detail in documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience working with software services and solutions.
  • Experience with more than one programming language (Java preferred).
  • Extensive expertise in UI and API automation testing
  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing such as AWS.
  • Experience in all aspects of testing - Performance Testing, Accessibility testing, Native Mobile testing.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Skilled in designing and developing test automation frameworks, considering architectural context, operational simplicity, and scalability.
