Job Description

The Senior Technical Project Manager will be responsible for driving one or many complex projects at a business or organizational level in various technology spaces (Software Development, Infrastructure, DevOps, Network Engineering, etc). 

In this role you will provide strategic guidance and support to other project managers and teams in the execution and delivery of complex projects.  You will collaborate across the organization with other teams, leaders, and executive stakeholders to align ways of working and project delivery efforts to achieve organizational goals.  You will be asked to rationalize different ways of working, finding synergies where possible and simplifying delivery models. 

You may conduct process and tool audits and assessments to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for maturing them, then drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO (and across the organization).  You will develop capabilities (data, dashboards, and reports) which enable project and portfolio management functions such as capacity planning/staffing, velocity/delivery metrics, team and individual workload management, and prioritization. 

You will seek out opportunities to mentor and coach junior PMO analysts in project management and other work delivery best practices to elevate and evolve their skills.  You will have FUN!

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced wide-ranging experience using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, and concepts to develop solutions for complex problems
  • Experience working independently and leading one to many large and complex projects within an IT organization  
  • Experience working on problems of diverse scope where analysis of information requires evaluation of identifiable factors 
  • Experience devising solutions based on limited information and precedent and adapting existing approaches to resolve issues using evaluation, judgment, and interpretation to select an appropriate course of action 
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of project management frameworks, methodologies, and tools within a Technology organization
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of project portfolio management capabilities, including: staffing and resource allocation, project roadmap planning and prioritization and risk management
  • Experience implementing capabilities to enable data driven decision making via dashboards and reporting for work delivery velocity, workload across teams and individuals, adherence to deadlines, etc
  • Experience using project management tools such as the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc) to organize work for delivery, develop documentation and knowledge sharing, reporting, etc
  • Ability to provide thought leadership to find solutions to issues in creative and effective ways 
  • Experience working in different software development and project management disciplines, possessing a deep understanding of them and the ability to educate and coach others and determine the appropriate one to use for different projects (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
