The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in Turnitin’s International Accounting Team with primary responsibilities including maintenance of General Ledgers, Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations and supporting other functions within the accounting department as necessary.  The role will have exposure to most areas of the Company’s expenses in the month-end close process.

This position requires the ability to work, adapt and evolve in a fast-paced environment, working to meet month end deadlines, changing requirements, and with teams in multiple time zones. The Staffr Accountant will be expected to contribute to driving continued process improvements to help strengthen internal controls and increase efficiencies while also reducing the close cycle requirements.   The Turnitin Finance team has a wide range of responsibility including internal and external financial reporting, accounting, and internal controls.   This position will report directly to the Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of general ledger and associated accounting of Turnitin’s International Entities
  • Assisting in Year End Audits for Turnitin’s International Entities
  • Working with Turnitin’s Tax Team to ensure deliverables of VAT and Corporate Tax Reporting
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries and reconciliations for all non-revenue related G/L accounts
  • Reconciliation of cash accounts during the month end close ensuring all cash activity is properly reflected in the General Ledger
  • Ensuring accuracy over Prepayments and Accruals at Month End
  • Posting of Payroll Journals
  • Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations and investigation of reconciling items
  • Preparation of detailed Variance Analysis reports for management review
  • Assist with support to internal customers including ad-hoc financial analysis, and special projects
  • Participation in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures
  • Assisting in Cash Management

 

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Newly Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with Accounting & Finance experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and hands-on exposure to accounting systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Strong written and oral communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills and relationship building
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize and manage workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with follow-through and minimal supervision
  • Self-starter and proactive thinker
