Job Description

We are looking for an experienced demand generation professional to join us in our mission to ensure the integrity of global education and meaningfully improve learning outcomes. Turnitin is in the midst of an exciting expansion. We are extending our commitment to academic integrity beyond plagiarism detection by delivering transformational assessment tools that help educators improve learning outcomes for students. 

 

To reach even more educators and administrators around the globe, we are seeking a strategic and collaborative demand generation leader who will establish our global campaign strategy, translate that strategy into repeatable marketing motions, test and measure effectiveness, and ultimately ensure strong marketing contribution to the sales pipeline. This is the first role of its kind at Turnitin. An effective candidate will bring proven playbooks for success and possess exceptional leadership qualities to manage through change and implement new operational processes. This role is critical to achieving our ambitious business goals over the next five years. 

 

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the Vice President of demand generation will lead a global team of field marketing professionals.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and own the strategy to generate and accelerate a global pipeline that supports Turnitin sales motions and ultimately helps achieve revenue targets. Determine the optimal strategy by product, market, and segment based on goals.
  • Develop marketing strategies to generate new business and customer expansion opportunities as well as growing customer retention in mature and emerging markets globally.
  • Analyze and measure results. Develop trackable metrics/KPIs and deliver regular reporting on the performance and health of the marketing pipeline, initial sales conversations, and revenue. 
  • Manage an internal marketing shared services (MSS) team of content and digital marketers who will support regional marketing objectives. 
  • Manage global marketing campaign budget allocation and be accountable for the ROI.
  • Initiate and roll out a global process for marketing campaign planning—creating greater transparency across the organization and marshaling centralized resources toward high-priority, high-impact projects. 
  • Facilitate a culture of testing, learning, and optimization across a mix of tactics including content, email, advertising, search, social media, events (online and offline), always keeping fact-based proof points and ROI in mind
  • Coordinate and partner effectively with cross-functional teams including sales leadership, brand & corporate marketing, marketing operations, and product marketing.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of field marketers responsible for territory-specific campaign execution.

Qualifications

 

  •   10+ years in progressive experience as a marketing and demand generation leader at global companies with geographically distributed teams in SaaS industry (higher education technology experience a plus); 5 years in diversified leadership roles, leading marketing functions. Ideal candidate will also have material international experience. 
  • Demonstrated global marketing functional transformational experience at scale - i.e., integrating acquired companies, and creating commonality across fragmented functions.
  • Must be able to regularly flex schedule across global time zones to further One Team collaboration and execute within a global function

  • Inspirational leadership style and hands-on approach to helping the team win. 
  • Proven ability to develop and champion a marketing and campaign strategy that is rooted in data and delivers on business goals
  • Experience across a mix of marketing channels and deep understanding of how and when to implement them to achieve marketing objectives
  • An operational thinker who can translate company strategy and goals into a schema for campaign planning and execution
  • A highly professional leader and influencer who builds relationships up, down, and across an organization easily 
  • Experience inspiring and managing a team of globally diverse marketing professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experienced at presenting to C-level executives
