Job Description

As Senior Director of Product Management, you will guide a globally distributed team that is charged with managing products from concept to market release and follow through. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company. You will build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. The successful leader will have a  unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality and will enjoy spending time in the market to understand problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to communicate with all areas of the company, working with engineering counterparts to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing and sales to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also be the internal and external evangelist for your product offering working with the sales channel and key customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical       activities
  •  Oversee the development and maintenance of programs and tools for explicit     user feedback and satisfaction measurement.
  •  Managing the team who creates market and product requirements based on  customer needs with articulation via positioning statements, vision and scope  documents.
  •  Identifying key market trends affecting current and future products by  conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
  •  Oversee tracking competing products and developing comparative analysis.
  •  Driving a solution set across product management and development teams  through market requirements, product contract, and positioning.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with vendors providing embedded technologies in the Turnitin portfolio
  • Identify key product and / or solution gaps within Turnitin’s product solutions, to include identification of viable alternatives (organic and M&A) to close these gaps.
  • Developing with product marketing, company-wide go-to-market plans, working with all departments to execute.
  • Maintaining internal and external roadmap .

Qualifications

Essential:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 8 years in product management in roles with increasing responsibility
  • Experience managing a distributed team; strong leadership abilities
  • Extensive experience managing SaaS software solutions
  • Experience managing a multi-product portfolio
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in Education Technology, especially assessment, grading or other instructional technologies
  • Experience integrating acquired companies, products and technologies
  • Global company experience
  • Pragmatic Marketing certification
  • Prior experience in Marketing, Sales or Engineering
  • Experience as a teacher or professor
