Job Description

Turnitin is seeking a Solutions Architect to assist our partners and customers with the custom design, development, and integration of Turnitin’s academic integrity suite into overall education solutions using best in class practice, tools, and techniques.

As a consultant in this position, you will work closely with business development, product, support and engineering to scope integrations between Turnitin and education ecosystem partners, develop them with our partners and assist in supporting them post sale.  On a daily basis this means understanding the needs of the customer, the feasibility of any proposed user experience, building reusable code that scales, understanding how to connect services using RESTful APIs and collaborating with team members and stakeholders. Responsibilities:

  • Work with Educational Institutions and our Partners to conduct technical deep dives to help scope the integration between our API and their internal systems

  • Creating statements of work

  • Project management

  • Performing customer or partner specific integration work using our API set

  • Building and executing on test plans for the performed integrations

  • Being a beta consumer/tester of new APIs and API changes

  • Pre-sales technical support and post-sales support of integration code

  • Informing the product roadmap as customer specific requests become common

  • Be available to travel (UK, EU, North America) 80% of the time (as needed)

Qualifications

Essential:

  • An understanding of web/SaaS applications or experience/knowledge of object oriented programming with distributed systems, microservices, concurrency, RESTful web services, and internet scalability

  • Good knowledge of security architecture, flows and standards, e.g. JWT, SAML, OpenID Connect.

  • Experience in designing RESTful APIs

  • Success in mentoring and supporting other engineers

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues

  • Experience with BPM or workflow tools such as IBM Business Process Manager, TIBCO, Mulesoft, Boomi, Bonitasoft, Activiti or similar integration technologies

  • Previously in customer and partner facing roles - great communication and diplomacy skills

  • Excellent problem solving skills and drive to get the job done!

  • Computer science or information systems degree

 

Beneficial:

  • Knowledge of or experience with LMS systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, Desire to Learn, Schoology, and others

  • Familiarity with at least one web application development framework such as Java, Javascript, PHP, Python, Ruby on Rails, etc

  • Background in cloud technologies and frameworks such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and OpenStack a plus

  • Knowledge of or experience with MTS vendors

  • Experience with container and clustering technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Tectonic, etc in a micro-services environment is desirable

  • Experience in participating in open source standards and contributing to open source is highly desirable

  • Work history in IBM Services, Accenture, or similar technology implementation compay
