Job Description
Site supervision & quality
- Conduct daily site walks to review progress and quality of electrical works, raise quality observations and update the project team.
- Inspect trenches, pits, ductbanks, cable trays / ladders, busways, cable pulling, jointing and terminations, panels and earthing / lightning protection systems in accordance with the agreed ITP.
- Supervise installation of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS and battery systems, PDUs / RPPs, lighting, small power and electrical interfaces with BMS / EPMS and ELV systems.
- Review the Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) developed by the GC; direction on quality and design is to be given through the client in line with the project governance.
- Verify that equipment is installed in accordance with approved shop drawings, manufacturer requirements and technical specifications; prepare Installation Inspection Reports (IIR) highlighting non-conformances and follow up rectification.
- Record every defect or issue as an observation; issue NCRs to the GC (copied to the Construction Manager) where works do not comply with contract drawings, approved shop drawings or specifications, and drive timely close-out.
- Verify that adequate protection of equipment and systems is maintained during construction in line with the client’s Equipment Protection Plan.
Testing & commissioning
- Witness and verify electrical testing (insulation resistance, continuity, earthing, high-pot, primary / secondary injection, protection relay settings, thermographic scans) and review test records.
- Confirm that installations are complete, inspected and signed off before proceeding to commissioning (Level 1–5 / IST), and support energisation and EVN grid connection activities under strict LOTO and permit-to-work controls.
Reporting, HSE & close-out
- Attend project meetings and arrange ad-hoc coordination meetings with the General Contractor (GC), design consultants and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and log GC construction activities; prepare weekly reports covering progress, mock-ups / benchmarks, RFIs, NCRs and technical issues.
- Assess GC means and methods against the most stringent applicable global, national and local standards and notify the client immediately of any deficiencies.
- Participate in GC incident investigations, ensuring root causes are established and effective control measures implemented.
- Support authority inspections, construction acceptance (nghiệm thu), as-built and O&M documentation and handover.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5–8 years’ experience in electrical / MEP site supervision, preferably on data centres, semiconductor / high-tech manufacturing, industrial plants, mission-critical facilities or large commercial developments.
- Strong technical knowledge and proven delivery of MV/LV power distribution, standby power, UPS, earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Good understanding of Vietnamese electrical codes and standards (TCVN / QCVN), IEC standards and international best practice; awareness of electrical safety (e.g. NFPA 70E) is an advantage.
- Valid Grade I or Grade II Construction Practising Certificate (Chứng chỉ hành nghề hoạt động xây dựng) in construction supervision for the relevant discipline – mandatory for Vietnamese nationals.
- Good spoken and written English – able to write clear site reports and communicate confidently with international clients and consultants.
