Job Description

At Turner & Townsend, we help deliver transformational projects across the globe. We are looking for an experienced Lead / Senior Project Scheduler to join our Mining & Metals team in Colombia.

This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale mining and industrial projects within a collaborative, high-performing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, ensuring successful project delivery while supporting our clients across the region.

Please note: This position is based in Medellín, Colombia, and requires availability to work under a rotational/travel-based model, including periodic travel and on-site work at the client's office and project locations in Nicaragua.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all planning and scheduling activities support the successful delivery of projects within approved timeframes and project objectives.
  • Support the Project Controls Lead, Project Manager, and Project Director in maintaining effective schedule control and project performance.
  • Develop and implement project planning and scheduling strategies, procedures, and standards aligned with Turner & Townsend and client requirements.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and, where applicable, Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS), in collaboration with project managers, cost managers, engineering teams, contractors, and client stakeholders.
  • Develop, review, and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
  • Promote and maintain schedule integration and consistency across multiple project stakeholders, identifying opportunities for improvement in logic, sequencing, durations, dependencies, resource loading, and progress measurement.
  • Perform schedule quality assessments, critical path analysis, float analysis, and schedule risk reviews.
  • Analyze contractor and subcontractor schedules, comparing progress against approved baselines and identifying potential delays and mitigation opportunities.
  • Generate regular scheduling reports, dashboards, and performance analyses to support project decision-making and executive reporting.
  • Identify schedule trends, productivity issues, and forecast impacts, providing recommendations to improve project outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with site construction teams, engineering teams, and client representatives to ensure schedule alignment with project execution realities.
  • Support change management processes, schedule impact assessments, and recovery planning initiatives.
  • Contribute to project controls best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the Mining & Metals portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, or project controls roles.
  • Previous experience within Mining & Metals, heavy industrial, energy, infrastructure, or large capital projects environments.
  • Strong experience working in complex, fast-paced, multi-stakeholder project environments.
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
    • Project Controls
    • Planning & Scheduling
    • Earned Value Management (EVM)
    • Change Management
    • Risk Management
    • PMO / Program Controls
  • Proven experience implementing planning and scheduling processes across large projects or portfolios.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and project controls reporting tools.
  • Solid understanding of project execution methodologies, engineering deliverables, procurement activities, construction sequencing, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience performing critical path analysis, schedule recovery planning, and progress measurement.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent Spanish is required.
  • English proficiency is highly desirable and preferred for interaction with regional and international stakeholders.
  • Experience on mining processing plants, concentrators, smelters, tailings facilities, brownfield expansions, or large industrial capital projects.
  • Knowledge of schedule risk analysis methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with EPC, EPCM, or Owner's Team project delivery models.
  • Experience supporting multinational mining companies and major capital investment programs.
