Job Description

The Project Expeditor is responsible for proactively managing the timely delivery of equipment, materials, vendor documentation, and procurement milestones across major pharmaceutical capital projects. The role serves as the critical interface between Procurement, EPCM partners, Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, and Suppliers to ensure long-lead items and critical project deliverables are aligned with the integrated project schedule.

The Project Expeditor plays a key role in safeguarding milestone achievement by identifying delivery risks early, driving recovery actions, and escalating issues that may impact design, construction, commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness activities.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Delivery Management

  • Monitor and expedite purchase orders, vendor commitments, and material deliveries against approved project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain detailed expediting trackers for critical and long-lead equipment.
  • Review supplier manufacturing schedules and monitor progress against contractual commitments.
  • Coordinate delivery forecasts and logistics plans to support construction sequencing and workface planning.
  • Monitor document submission schedules, including drawings, specifications, FAT documentation, turnover packages, and quality records.
  • Interface closely with Project Controls to ensure procurement activities are fully integrated with the project schedule.
  • Monitor critical-path and near-critical procurement activities.
  • Ensure equipment delivery dates remain aligned with construction, commissioning, and qualification requirements.
  • Support schedule recovery efforts by identifying alternative procurement and delivery strategies when delays occur.

Reporting & Governance

  • Produce routine procurement and expediting dashboards.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on critical equipment status and delivery risks.
  • Track supplier performance metrics and recovery actions.
  • Support SteerCo, Project Leadership Team, and governance reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in procurement expediting, project controls, supply chain, or capital project delivery.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial, pharmaceutical, biotech, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing projects.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and qualification processes.
  • Strong knowledge of schedule management principles and critical path methodology.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting projects exceeding $100M projects.
  • Experience working within EPCM delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of SAP Ariba/Oracle.
  • Understanding of Lilly GFD governance and project delivery processes.
