Job Description
The Project Quality Engineer is to supervise and inspect the related activities and verify they are performed in compliance with project procedures, work instructions specifications and applicable standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary support to Project Quality Manager in the execution of quality management within project.
- Act as the key contact for clients on quality matters in the absence of the Project Quality Manager, ensuring effective communication and alignment with project objectives.
- Support the execution of project quality plan.
- Establish, update, and maintain the Project Quality Audit Plan, conduct internal and external audits and follow up to ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
- Timely review quality-related documents submitted by Vendors.
- Conduct quality induction and awareness sessions on project quality requirements for all stakeholders, including Vendors and Subcontractors.
- Monitor & follow up on the resolution of quality notifications and escalations, ensuring adherence to processes.
- Analyze project quality performance, provide status updates on quality activities, and ensure timely reporting meeting department and project deadlines.
- Verify related works are carried out in compliance with approved project procedures, work instructions, specifications and applicable international codes and standards.
- Verify that all inspections and tests witnessed are recorded and documented and that NDE reports are reviewed and signed.
- Actively engaged with internal stakeholders for quality related matters.
- Contribute to the qualification and selection of vendors/sub-contractors based on quality.
- Provide feedback and lessons learned to improve systems and tools within the discipline community.
- Participate in quality incident investigations and assist in resolving incidents promptly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, science, or a related quality discipline, with a focus on quality management or relevant field.
- Proficiency in auditing quality management systems.
- 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including at least 2 years in a senior level role. Proven project experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of Project Management.
- Fundamentals, Engineering principles, lifecycle and assurance processes, and construction processes, including fabrication and special processes.
- Proven expertise in Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9000, ISO/TS 29001, and ISO/IEC 80079-34, with in-depth knowledge of relevant processes and interfaces. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of quality management principles, methodologies, and best practices, including quality assurance techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency with quality investigation tools and methodologies, including handling investigations of non-conformance and major quality incidents. Well-versed in root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and corrective action/preventive action (CAPA).
- Strong knowledge in welding, coating, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), preservation, and Ex (explosive atmospheres). Relevant certifications are an added advantage.
- Proficiency in English is beneficial, especially for international projects with diverse teams.
