Job Description


Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Director of Estimating to lead and develop a team of estimators and oversee the delivery of estimating services for large-scale data center construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring service excellence, driving growth in our estimating capabilities, and fostering strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with exceptional technical expertise and interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage estimating services for major data center clients, providing strategic direction and oversight.
  • Develop and implement best-in-class estimating processes and methodologies tailored to data center construction, leveraging innovative techniques for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates for complex data center projects, ensuring precision and completeness.
  • Collaborate with project teams to create comprehensive cost management plans and support value engineering initiatives.
  • Conduct cost risk analysis and provide expert input into negotiations and final account approvals.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders, delivering clear, actionable estimating insights.
  • Build business capability by anticipating industry trends and introducing new estimating services aligned with client needs.
  • Drive business development through client engagement, proposal leadership, and opportunity tracking within the region.
  • Lead bid efforts for estimating scopes, present to prospective clients, and share best practices to foster a culture of learning.
  • Mentor and coach estimators, promoting professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Report on key performance indicators to measure team and service performance against industry benchmarks.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of relevant estimating or preconstruction experience, with significant exposure to data center or mission-critical projects.
  • 2+ years managing high-performing estimating/preconstruction teams in a consulting environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful estimating services for large-scale projects.
  • Strong business development acumen and ability to drive growth.
  • Experience with major construction sectors such as commercial real estate, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, and natural resources.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills.

Additional Information


The salary range for this full-time role is $200K-$215K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
