Job Description

Turner & Townsend are leaders in professional services to the Data Centre sector globally. Due to the continued success and expansion of our Data Centre business in Europe, we are seeking a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) Lead to oversee the delivery of major data center programs in Portugal. This is a senior leadership role within our growing European data center team, offering the opportunity to shape delivery strategy, lead multidisciplinary teams, and drive excellence across all phases of project execution.

This role is client facing, working within a professional and ambitious team, where you will receive excellent support. We have brought our brightest minds together to respond to our client’s Project and Programme management objectives working on major hyperscale projects.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale data center projects, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met
  • Oversee master planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Ensure robust governance and risk management across all project phases
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Establishing and maintaining effective processes and systems to be utilised throughout the project
  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress and other performance indicators
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and proactive issue resolution. 
  • Lead client reporting and communication strategies at program level
  • Build and mentor high-performing project teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
  • Promote standardization and automation of project management processes across the data center portfolio
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members in line with regional growth plans
  • Support bid development and client presentations for new opportunities
  • Contribute to business development and strategic planning for the data center centre sector in Portugal

 

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in delivering large-scale construction or EPC projects, and ideally proven experience within the Data Center or mission-critical sector
  • Track record of delivering the construction of major construction projects from inception to completion
  • Demonstrable experience in client-facing roles at all levels and team leadership
  • Strong understanding of construction regulations, permitting, and delivery frameworks
  • Availability for on-site work
