Job Description
The Project Manager (Mobilisation) professional will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless mobilisation and demobilisation of consultant staff across multiple geographies for this large-scale infrastructure project. This role demands a strategic mindset, operational excellence, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimising existing processes, developing new workflows, and ensuring that all personnel are aligned with the programme’s goals, culture, and delivery expectations.
The Project Manager (Mobilisation) shall augment the requirements of the Client Partner Services Contract, including all terms and conditions are being adhered to and service obligations are fulfilled in line with the client’s requirements. They will, in collaboration with the client's Directorate and under the leadership of Client Partner’s Mobilisation Manager ensure that appropriate internal structures are put in place to effectively onboard and offboard the required resources to facilitate the delivery of the Client Partner Services Contract to the satisfaction of the client.
Principal responsibilities of the role:
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day mobilisation and demobilisation of resources from multiple consulting organisations, ensuring continuity and quality of service delivery.
- Critically assess current mobilisation processes and identify opportunities for optimisation and scalability.
- Design and implement new process documentation and process maps from scratch, ensuring clarity and alignment with programme needs.
- Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and capability development.
- Ensure proactive submission of candidate profiles in line with client timelines and requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing outcomes and driving alignment.
- Operate effectively within a matrixed environment, managing competing priorities and navigating ambiguity.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with mobilisation activities, ensuring business continuity and compliance.
- Maintain and update Mobilisation and Demobilisation Plans, ensuring they reflect current programme status and future needs.
- Develop and maintain onboarding materials including handbooks, presentations, and training guides.
- Implement systems for continuous improvement and feedback across mobilisation processes.
- Manage large datasets related to personnel, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
- Drive closure on mobilisation activities through rigorous follow-up and stakeholder engagement.
- Apply a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving, balancing ideal practices with pragmatic delivery.
- Manage multiple initiatives at varying stages of their lifecycle, ensuring timely execution and stakeholder satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 8 degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject area e.g., project management, human resources, supply chain, procurement, business, or related disciple
- 10+ years’ experience, with relevant experience in large scale mobilisation and demobilisation of personnel in a large enterprise or on a major programme.
- Further demonstrated experience / knowledge of the following is required:
- Developing and implementing new processes within a large organisation
- Developing successful relationships that benefits programme performance and delivery metrics
- Driving best practice in technical activities, processes, policies, and standards
- Dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of process and providing guidance to support successful on/offboarding processes
Additionally, the Project Manager (Mobilisation) will be required to possess the following skills:
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary functions and teams while ensuring that all mobilisation management related tasks are conducted in a timely and accurate manner
- Ability to operate and execute effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
- A highly organised, strong communicator with the ability to self-manage their workload
- Ability to influence through the development of strong relationships to ensure the smooth running of processes
- Ability to deal with problems as they arise and provide and implement solutions
- Strong ability in managing relationships
- Ability to drive team participation and high performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills along with high personal motivation and energy
- Ability to develop long term relationships with all team members, and effectively balance people and processes
