Job Description
The Contract Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of commercial contracts within the client including negotiating, drafting, and executing contracts, ensuring that they comply with legal and regulatory requirements. The role holder plays a key role in identifying and mitigating risks associated with contracts, working to secure favourable terms through effective negotiation with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders. The Contract Commercial Manager monitors contract performance, tracks key metrics, and reports on contract status to senior management. By collaborating with various stakeholders, the role holder ensures that contract objectives align with the organisation's business goals, ultimately supporting the clients strategic and commercial interests.
Principal Accountabilities
- Oversee the lifecycle of contracts, including negotiation, execution and renewal.
- Draft, review and ensure that contracts meet the organisations needs and comply with legal standards.
- Ensure that all contracts adhere to the relevant laws, regulations and company policies.
- Prevent any legal issues that may arise from non-compliance.
- Lead negotiations with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to secure favourable terms and conditions.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers. This includes negotiating contracts and ensuring suppliers meet the company's standards and requirements.
- Maintain transparent, accurate and timely reporting on all operational and commercial aspects of contracts.
- Accommodate change while maintaining programme and achieving the clients objectives.
- Track and analyse the performance of contracts to ensure that objectives are met and identify areas for improvement.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders, formalise processes to prevent misunderstandings and conflicts.
- Oversee interactions between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment and shared goals.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that contract objectives align with business goals.
- Collaborate with various business units across the client to drive business development.
- Identify any potential risks. Develop the necessary mitigation strategies to minimise these risks to ensure closure of the detailed design process in a timely manner.
- Participate in any progress meetings to discuss contracts plans and progress.
- Negotiate and oversee contracts, pursing new business opportunities.
- Resolve commercial disputes and settlements relating to the contracted scope.
- Perform additional tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned as part of the role.
Qualifications
- 10+ years' experience in a similar Contract Commercial Manager role on another large-scale infrastructure project.
Skills
- Ability to develop successful commercial relationships that benefit from programme performance and delivery metrics.
- Ability to report timely and accurate management information.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of currently available purchasing options including framework agreements.
- Ability to write, document, and maintain technical standards, guidelines, and workflows.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner that is positive, open, transparent and is a clear and effective communicator to foster a committed, strategic, innovative and inclusive culture.
- Ability to operate and execute effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines and to address challenges such as supply chain disruptions, fluctuating market conditions, and supplier compliance issues.
- Ability to work effectively within a cross function multi-disciplinary functions matrix environment while ensuring that all procurement related tasks are conducted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills along with high personal motivation and energy.
Formal Education Qualifications
- A minimum level 8 degree in business or a related subject matter or equivalent experience is desirable.
Professional Memberships
- A professional qualification such as Engineers Ireland (IE), Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or relevant equivalent. · Membership of Institute of Management Consulting or Association of Project Management or Project Manager Institute (PMI) is desirable.
