Job Description
The specialist will lead the development of the client's BIM standards in large railway infrastructure projects.
The function holder is responsible for the timely production of the project's BIM standards and protocols, working in conjunction with other program functions and third parties.
Key Responsibilities:
· Development of the Client's BIM standards.
· Document, review, and update standards, ensuring their alignment with industry frameworks such as ISO 19650 and relevant regulatory requirements.
· Ensure that all BIM standards are applied consistently across the project, supporting compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
· Work closely with QA teams to integrate information governance checks into project workflows.
· Conduct regular reviews and audits to assess compliance with established standards, identifying and addressing non-compliance issues.
· Maintain version control, review and update program information management standards as industry standards, technology, and project requirements evolve.
· Engage with internal and external stakeholders, holding them accountable for providing the information needed to develop the project's BIM standards.
· Advise on best practices for the structuring, management and exchange of digital information.
· Provide support in the development of training materials to support teams in the adoption and effective application of information standards.
· Lead the refinement and continuous improvement of the project's BIM standards, incorporating the lessons learned from the implementation of the project.
· Contribute to the development and maintenance of the project's knowledge repository, ensuring that all project BIM standards and related guidance materials are easily accessible and up-to-date.
Qualifications
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Experience
· Proven experience in drafting BIM standards and requirements (OIRs, AIRs, EIRs, PIRs) and governance frameworks for large railway infrastructure, construction or engineering projects is essential.
· Solid knowledge of industry standards, such as the ISO19650 series (BIM and information management), ISO8000 (data quality), Uniclass2015 (classification system) and IFC.
· Proven experience in structuring, classifying, and standardizing data and project documentation, and creating data dictionaries.
· Hands-on experience with common data environments (CDEs) and information management platforms (e.g., Bentley ProjectWise and AssetWise).
· Experience in planning and governance, having managed teams in setting goals, objectives and priorities and establishing clear roles and responsibilities.
· Drive best practices in information management, processes, policies, and standards.
· Dealing with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the project.
Skills
· High proficiency in spoken and written English, (Advanced C1 Level).
· Deep understanding of BIM standards development.
· High level of accuracy in the development of structured documentation.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex information management concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
· Ability to continuously evaluate, refine, and improve BIM protocols and standards.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Ability to coordinate and communicate important information between teams.
