Job Description
Our Energy & Natural Resources (ENR) team is a catalyst for the world’s energy transition, driving sustainable, affordable, and secure solutions across some of the globes most exciting and impactful programmes. Our strategy, set up, and delivery approach draws on our commercial and management expertise to help our clients achieve the results they want from investment.
The ENR segment includes the following sectors: Clean Energy; Transmission & Distribution; Conventional & Low Carbon Energy; and Mining.
We are seeking to appoint Head of Nuclear (UK). This will be a senior role reporting directly to our Head of ENR (UK). You will bring a proven track record in the development and delivery of nuclear projects and lead the continued success and expansion of our nuclear service offering in Canada.
Requirements
- Experience and credibility in the nuclear industry with existing relationships with both national and international clients.
- Your track record will have seen you leading teams and providing advice on complex projects across the nuclear industry.
- You will understand and be able to demonstrate to clients how Project Management, Commercial Management and Project Controls contribute to better outcomes throughout the strategy, set-up, and delivery of nuclear programs.
- You will understand the commercial drivers of complex programme delivery, leading indicators of performance, and have experience driving change and managing risk.
- Candidates should expect to travel throughout the UK and beyond to support the growth of our nuclear service offering.
Key objectives
Strategy – own our nuclear sector strategy for the UK and work closely with our Global Nuclear Lead to incorporate best practice and learning from other nuclear / power programmes.
Growth – understand the UK nuclear sector, forming and executing a sustainable nuclear growth plan, with responsibility for the delivery of annual sector budgets and leading nuclear tenders.
Profile – be a voice in the UK nuclear sector working closely with developers and industry to drive successful sector outcomes.
Capability development – work with functional experts across our business whilst building a team of subject matter experts in nuclear, leading the recruitment of people into major commissions.
Market offer – contribute to the ongoing development of our project and programs offering.
Execution – serve as a project director / leader of our service on new commissions, driving high quality outcomes that enhance value for our clients.
Qualifications
Skills
- Strategically minded with a considered and consistent approach to decision-making and leadership.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to establish robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders and teams.
- Proactive approach to business development via new and existing clients, including cross-selling opportunities, and leading pursuits and tenders.
- Ability to serve in the capacity of a ‘doer / leader’ – someone who can deliver the service while building a team and the pipeline nationally.
- Being visible and leading by example, inspiring others to always give their best, and valuing and nurturing the diverse skills and perspectives around you.
- Ability to access and influence key decision makers within clients, regulatory bodies, and government.
Knowledge
- Considerable construction industry experience from a project / program / cost management or project controls background.
- Extensive experience working in the nuclear sector, with a proven track record in successfully delivering major projects and programs.
- A broad understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements and industry trends.
- Preference for UK experience with an established network within the nuclear industry supply chain.
- Experience of working within both client and consultant environments an advantage.
- Experience working with global accounts and supporting the growth of those relationships.
Qualifications
- Qualified to degree level within construction and / or engineering.
- Professional chartership desirable.
