Job Description
Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Manager to lead and manage electrical systems and infrastructure for a global tech client's massive Data Center construction and development project onsite in Maiden, North Carolina.
This key role will oversee all aspects of electrical design, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support for mission-critical facilities. The Senior Electrical Project Manager will work closely with project teams, clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful, on-time, and within-budget project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage electrical aspects of Data Center construction projects, ensuring projects are delivered according to specifications, on schedule, and within budget.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all electrical-related matters, maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, consultants, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Review and approve electrical designs, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, while meeting client requirements for reliability, scalability, and energy efficiency.
- Develop and manage electrical budgets, estimates, and schedules, and provide regular progress reports to stakeholders. Identify and address any potential budget or timeline deviations.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to electrical systems, design, procurement, and construction. Implement strategies to resolve issues and avoid delays.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers, to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems within the overall project scope.
- Ensure all electrical installations and systems meet or exceed quality standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices. Oversee inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Manage subcontractors and electrical vendors, ensuring timely and quality performance. Review and approve submittals, change orders, and progress payments.
- Oversee commissioning processes, including system testing, troubleshooting, and final system turnover to the client. Ensure thorough documentation and operational manuals are provided.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to electrical systems for Data Centers and apply innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) a plus.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical project management, with a focus on Data Center construction or similar large-scale critical infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems design, installation, and commissioning for mission-critical environments, including power distribution, backup power systems (UPS, generators), switchgear, and lighting.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project), as well as electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools).
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA), and industry best practices for Data Center electrical systems.
- Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of overcoming challenges on complex projects.
- PMP, PE, or other relevant certifications are highly preferred.
- Ability to travel to the project site as required.
