Job Description
Turner & Townsend are engaged to support our clients with many complex projects, responsible for all aspects of project management throughout the Boston area as well around the world. As such, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager who will act as the day-to-day interface with our high-profile life sciences client and be responsible for projects of multiple sizes and scales, driving them from inception through turnover.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and management of the project’s strategic plans and program initiatives to meet the goals and needs of the Owner. This includes development of Project Execution Plan, other required project reporting, and monitoring and documenting project progress and other performance indicators.
- Lead the design, engineering and construction team through planning, design, preconstruction and construction activities.
- Initiate and lead the procurement of design, construction and consultant services.
- Serve as liaison between client and design/construction professionals. Fostering productive relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Coordinate with vendors to design and deliver equipment, overseeing the equipment receiving process and installation.
- Oversee and review the development of architectural and engineering construction drawings and bid documents.
- Lead value engineering sessions as necessary to reduce cost.
- Plan and manage deliverables inclusive of design, construction, automation, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Provide analysis of budgets and schedules and their effect on the financial objectives and schedule of the project.
- Assist client in scheduling, coordination and management of all Owner-direct vendors and consultants.
- Meet with clients, city officials, architects, engineers, contractors and consultants to present the project status and anticipate issues.
- Lead all aspects of the project, including the budget, schedule, operational needs, procedures, client standards, QA/QC program requirements, reporting, as well as individual roles and responsibilities.
- Coordinate with vendors to design and deliver equipment, overseeing the equipment receiving process and installation.
- Proactively identify and manage risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating critical concerns to appropriate stakeholders as necessary.
- Attend owner, architect and contractor meetings, taking the meeting notes and managing the follow-up action items.
- Negotiate, resolve and close out any outstanding change orders, quality issues or disputes.
- Identifying and ensuring that the appropriate parties are aware of quality, safety, health, and environment issues.
- Oversee development and execution startup/commissioning protocols as appropriate.
- Establish and oversee project close out documentation and processes through to completion.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of project controls, project management, construction documentation and sequencing.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert where applicable, including project management practices and technical focus areas.
- Identifies opportunities to improve Project Management process, procedures, templates, and products referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
- Conducts background research, data collection and benchmarking, and presents findings back to appropriate team members.
- Knowledge management – ensures that key information and learning generated from each commission is inputted into internal databases and shared.

Qualifications
Required Skills:

- Excellent documentation and organization skills.
- Knowledge of proprietary project management systems.
- Ability to review and interpret design documents and engineering documents.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and other relevant software platforms.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent
Recommended Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of engineering, operations experience or project management in construction / laboratory environments.
- Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- Direct experience creating, managing, and analyzing schedules in P6 or MS Project is preferred.
- US experience preferred.
