Our Real Estate Digital team have a vacancy for a SMART Building Consultant to work with clients in the fast-growing SMART building area, where you will be working to develop and implement organisational strategies and advanced disruptive technologies into the built environment. 

As a SMART Building Consultant, you will be at the forefront of advising clients on advanced technologies that can transform the built environment. This role involves integrating future-proof technology solutions such as IoT sensors, SMART building systems integration, and IT connectivity that enhance the efficiency and functionality of modern buildings. You will help clients navigate complex technology challenges by developing innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that align with their needs. 

You will work closely with design and construction teams, technology vendors, and stakeholders to ensure that SMART building initiatives are seamlessly integrated from design, through construction to implementation, with a focus on optimising Real Estate building and portfolio performance, environmental and sustainability performance and improving end-user experience, comfort and well-being. 

You will partner with our clients, helping them achieve their SMART building strategies whilst driving the integration SMART building technologies and systems such as: 

  • SMART Building Strategies  

  • Digital Twin Strategies  

  • Fibre & Copper structured cabling solutions 

  • Intelligent building systems (BMS, Security, etc) 

  • Wireless networking, 

  • Audio video and collaboration technologies 

  • IoT and 5G 

  • End user technologies 

  • Data centres 

  • Comms room development 

Key responsibilities 

We are always on the lookout for bright, talented and motivated technical consultants to work on large scale, complex technology projects. 

  • Consultation & Strategy Development: Collaborate with clients to develop SMART building strategies and technology roadmaps. Advise on best-fit, innovative solutions to address business challenges and realise the client’s vision. 

  • Business Case development: Develop comprehensive business cases to support technology investments and align them with organisational goals. 

  • Persona development and mapping: Create and map user personas to better understand and optimise the technology solutions for different user groups, enhancing overall user experience. 

  • Technology Integration: Lead the design, specification, and integration of technology services including structured cabling, wireless networking, intelligent building systems (BMS, security, etc.), IoT, 5G, AV, and SMART building solutions. 

  • Project Delivery: Oversee the technology delivery in line with construction programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards such as the RIBA plan of work and established client KPIs. Manage all stages of IT service delivery, ensuring objectives are met on time, within budget, and to quality expectations. 

  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary interface between clients, construction teams, and other consultants, guiding the implementation of cutting-edge solutions while maintaining strong relationships and clear communication. 

  • Governance & Reporting: Establish effective governance structures for project oversight. Provide regular updates and formal progress reports to ensure all stakeholders are informed and aligned. 

  • Commercial Insight: Leverage your knowledge to identify pain points, improve user experiences, and support clients in making informed technology decisions. 

  • Change Management: Manage IT change control processes, ensuring that any adjustments to project scope, technology, or processes are well-documented and smoothly executed. 

  • New Business Development: Identify and qualify new business opportunities by addressing clients' technology consultancy needs, contributing to sales growth. 

Key Accountabilities 

  • Vision & Strategy: Support clients in developing and implementing SMART building strategies aligned with their objectives. 

  • Stakeholder Management: Lead client and consultant engagement, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. 

  • Technical Insights: Provide expert advice on SMART building technologies, IoT, and digital solutions. 

  • Project Success: Define success criteria, ensuring projects meet time, cost, and performance goals. 

  • Governance & Compliance: Establish governance structures, ensuring quality, safety, and environmental standards are met. 

  • Project Planning & Delivery: Create detailed project plans and lead cross-functional teams for smooth execution. 

  • IT Change Control & Reporting: Manage change control processes and provide regular progress reports. 

  • Financial Oversight: Monitor project budgets to ensure cost-effective delivery. 

  • IT Procurement & Installations: Oversee IT procurement and coordinate technology installations like AV, cabling, and building systems. 

 

Qualifications

  • APM/Agile/Prince2 Project Management qualification or similar  

  • Evidence of SMART learning though formal courses, industry initiatives or similar   

 

Skills and experience 

  • Experience with client engagement and Stakeholder management 

  • Ability to engage stakeholders and build relationships 

  • Experience working as a project manager delivering integrated technology solutions 

  • Ability to quickly master technical concepts, processes, details, and skills, and be able to effectively communicate them to a wide variety of audience 

  • Resourceful problem-solver, leveraging internal and partner resources where and when needed to do what’s right for the customer and for the organisation 

  • Self-Motivated 

  • Strong technical knowledge 

  • Excellent communication skills to include verbal, written and presentation 

Preferred:

  • Experience writing bid responses and presenting ideas in interview 

  • Knowledge and experience of working with/ within the commercial property sector 

  • Knowledge of RIBA plan of work 

  • Ability to lead meetings and mange expectations
