Job Description

The Offshore Field Engineer for Subsea Cable Installation will oversee and manage the installation of subsea cables, focusing on the nearshore installation at the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) exit point. The role includes ensuring the successful installation of the flange at the end of the 3x HDD, the messenger line within the HDD, and coordinating subcontractor activities related to Submarine Cable (SMC) installation, including Inter Array Cables (IAC) and Export Cables (EXC).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation Management:
    • Oversee the installation of the flange at the end of the 3x HDD at the nearshore end, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and safety standards.
    • Supervise the installation of the messenger line inside the HDD, coordinating with the project team to ensure efficient and accurate execution.
  2. Subcontractor Coordination:
    • Manage subcontractors involved in the installation of the SMC, ensuring compliance with project requirements and timelines.
    • Coordinate all activities related to the installation of Inter Array Cables (IAC) and Export Cables (EXC), including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control.
  3. Technical Oversight:
    • Provide technical guidance and support during the installation process, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions as needed.
    • Ensure all installations meet regulatory and company standards, conducting inspections and tests to verify compliance.
  4. Project Documentation:
    • Maintain detailed records of installation activities, including progress reports, technical documentation, and as-built drawings.
    • Prepare and present regular updates to project management and stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions.
  5. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
    • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring all activities comply with HSE policies and regulations.
    • Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Marine, Naval, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • Over 5+ years of experience in offshore T&I, ideally with offshore wind farms experience.
  • Project Management experience in offshore structure installation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Team player, self-starter, and able to lead a team.
  • Ability to work offshore at the project location, office and fabrication yard
  • Language skills: English with Mandarin desirable
