The Construction engineer in HV and electrical substations is an HV Substations Electrical Engineer specialized in the design and construction of high/medium voltage electrical substations who will ensure that the work of the substation and high/medium voltage lines construction are carried out according to Country Electrical Regulations as well as covering of all requirements. He will oversee verifying that all EHS procedures required in the mentioned construction are fully complied with.

This is a 100% construction on site role

Executive Summary

The process, managed by the Construction HV Substations Electrical Engineer, is to help simplify Substation and Transmission lines work and maintain the overall schedule. 

The Construction HV Substations Electrical Engineer will work with the project cost management team to help the Project Manager and DCD PM management and control all cost-related issues encountered during the construction phase. 

The Construction HV Substations Electrical Engineer works directly for the DCD Program Manager and in coordination with Consultant Construction Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting preliminary surveys of the site of Substation and Electric Lines construction
  • Ensuring that all formalities such as permits, and clearances are obtained from Government Electrical Regulator entities.
  • Ensuring that all electrical permits and electrical Government requirements are accomplished where apply.
  • Ensuring that the Substation GC keeps project documentation in order and within the appropriate repository.
  • Taking part in the Substation project planning plan and give inputs regarding implementation.
  • Ensuring that Substation construction activity progresses as per schedule.
  • Ensuring that work MOPs for Electrical Substation and HVTL construction were implemented and followed as required.
  • Reporting to the DCD PM and Consultant Construction Manager regularly with updates on the Substation construction work.
  • Communicating with DC construction coordinators to ensure that coordination between DC construction and Substation construction are in order.
  • Communicate with Substation GC subcontractors and ensure that the project progresses as per schedule.
  • Manage Substation designers, architects, and suppliers to ensure that construction is going on as per schedule and within quality requirements.
  • In charge of the process of electrical Substation turnover to CFE.
  • Acts as Quality Control Supervisor related for Substation and transmission Lines part of the project.
  • Interact with MSFT Energy Team, as well as A/E designer and DCE Team as required for the project.
  • Represent MSFT as owner of the contract where apply.
  • Oversee construction and installation activities to make sure that the electrical infrastructure and associated civil works are delivered on time
  • Supervise the connection of the TL/SUB to the facilities of the Datacenter. Coordinate and secure proper Commissioning process
  • Interact as required with AHJ (not only utilities) or any entity involved in releasing the infrastructure RoW and trajectories.

Qualifications

  • Degrees and/or professional licenses in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills in Portuguese and English.

Experience/Skills/Education:

  • 3+ Experience in Substation and electrical transmission lines standards and practices.
  • Good ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to engineers.
  • Experience in Electrical Transmission, Distribution Government AHJ Codes and rules.
  • Construction Health & Safety knowledge.
