Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager / Estimator to work with our talented San Francisco Bay area team alongside a key technology client on their innovative global retail construction program.

This role will be responsible for producing accurate capital cost estimates at all design stages for global retail projects. In addition to estimate delivery, the role requires management and involvement in many cross functional cost initiatives.

To be successful in this position you must have great communication skills and be comfortable operating in a client-facing role.

There is a mandatory, 3 day (Tues-Thurs) in-office requirement at our client’s Cupertino office.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience in developing parametric cost models in excel
  • Experience in providing program-level estimates for specific scopes of work
  • Coordinate, manage, and supervise the work of support staff.
  • Reviewing proposed design changes/new technologies and prepare estimates within appropriate accuracy levels.
  • Help drive cost model trends by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing cost information from completed projects.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of alternate products and value engineering ideas at a program level.
  • Support training to Development and external Estimating teams on new project estimating tools/templates.
  • Support preparation of leadership presentations for the client’s Preconstruction and Estimating team.
  • Delivering Life Cycle Costing models.
  • Developing cost plans and estimates from concept through detailed design across multiple geographic regions; with internal and external staff.
  • Delivering and presenting updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.

Qualifications

  • Experience in advance Excel is a must (If, Xlookup, Index, Offset, and nested formulas)
  • Experience in a construction cost management role such as Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Cost Controls etc.
  • Experience providing conceptual estimating services and/or pre-construction services at a construction management or related firm.
  • Retail or commercial construction experience in an estimating role; industries of preferred experience: hospitality, offices, civic, museum buildings, or luxury retail.
  • Experience supervising direct staff responsible for delivering estimating services preferred.
  • College and/or post-graduate degree in construction management or a related field.
  • Excellent communicator and thrives in a client facing role.
  • Experience supporting program level cost management for medium or large scale construction projects.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as value management and value engineering.
  • Expertise in estimating software such as InEight, Cost X, WinEst, Sage, or equivalent.
  • MEP experience is beneficial.

Additional Information

The salary range for this full-time role is $130K-$155K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package.  Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
