Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager who will be responsible for managing the design process and the Architect/Engineer from master planning/basis of design stage through issuance of construction drawings. The ideal candidate will be able to manage a very fast, diverse, and rapidly changing design program.
It is expected that the Senior Design Manager will have the gravitas to successfully influence at all levels across both internal and external stakeholders
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for establishing and owning the Design Management Plan and Processes
- Overall coordinate Civil, Structural, Architectural, MEP, infrastructure and interior design disciplines with major stakeholders, construction manager, Client operation, security and others. along the design stages Identify and manage key design milestones in line with overall master programme along the different design stages (from RIBA Stage1 up to RIBA Stage4).
- Coordinate design and programming meetings between Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firms, stakeholders, change management and phased implementation strategy. Document and distribute notes from the meetings for review and inclusion or exclusion into the design
- Coordinate design process with A/E firm under the limited supervision and direction of Design Director.
- Provide input on alignment between design deliverables and Client requirements.
- Coordinate and schedule design reviews and consolidate input from stakeholders and coordinate design feedback to A/E firm
- Perform an all-discipline review for alignment between the different packages
- Schedule and coordinate safety in design review meetings
- Coordinate and schedule Client stakeholder engagements with Client Planning, Change Management, and coordinate design reviews with Client Stakeholders recorded by mean of trackers.
- Coordinate design reviews with third party technical review team and report / distribute findings assist with resolution of conflicts
- Ensure all design review issues from reviews are documented and managed until resolved by mean of stakeholders’ comments trackers.
- Manage the design deliverables schedule in alignment with master design programme.
- Confirm scope boundaries has been included into the different design packages and manage design of interfacing areas
- Identify and / or capture design issues and track until resolved.
- Confirm all resolved design issues and changes have been incorporated into the design packages
- Coordinate, schedule, and assist with value management workshops and manage related record via trackers
- Coordinate, schedule, and assist with constructability reviews
- Ensure, as far as reasonably practicable A/E firm understands the design deliverables and pre-review design documents for compliance to deliverables prior to submission
- Support the submittal / shop drawing review and approval process
- Review of project submittals for compliance with project design documents and coordinate submittal approval from subject matter experts, operations, and team
- Coordinate the design RFI's and design changes and liaise with the construction management team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 - 15+ years' experience in design management
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil engineering or a relevant field
- Recognized Project Management qualifications are advantageous.
- Working in the Middle East region is advantages
- High End- and Mixed-use Real Estate &Infrastructure experience
- Experience on projects involving international architectural firms is required
- Written and spoken English language skills
- Experienced in Design/Architecture/MEP/ Infrastructure works.
- Experienced in Client facing role
