Job Description

Daily EHS Tasks:

  •  Attend daily toolbox meeting and ensuring this is consistently held.
  • Full time site attendance.
  • Verify risk assessments are conducted for all tasks and document them.
  • Verify approved work methods, potential hazards, and safe work procedures are briefed to workers.
  • Verify permits-to-work (PTWs) are raised for high-risk work and hot work permits for activities generating sparks or flames.
  • Review high-risk permits-to-work (PTWs) prior to commence of works on site.
  • Ensure workers are wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and it complies with standards.
  • Document and submit endorsed permits and documentation.
  • Encourage good safety culture and reminders to workers/managers on site.
  • Ensure Emergency Escape/Fire Engine Access on construction site are well defined (throughout whole of construction) and kept free from obstruction at all times.
  • Review first aid/sick bay logbook to note any injuries/ill workers on site.
  • Participate in any site visits/inspections done by the project team/visitors to site.
  • Participate in reviews for RA/MOS with contractors/project team.
  • Assist in accident/incident investigations.
  • Any other ad hoc work assigned by SRE or T&T PM

Site Inspection:

  • Conduct thorough walkthrough of the construction site.
  • Identify potential hazards and safety concerns.
  • Consult and discuss with T&T PM on hazards/issues/dangerous activities and follow up actions (that may result in Stop Work Order – note that SWO shall only be issued by T&T Project Lead or SRE)
  • Ensure workers are wearing appropriate PPE and following safe work procedures.
  • Issue non-conformance reports for unsafe practices and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Verify effective implementation of Traffic Management Plan by the contractor.
  • Follow up on safety lapses found to ensure that they are closed off timely, with reinforcement to workers.

Plant & Equipment Inspection:

  • Ensure scheduled inspection and maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Verify routine maintenance of plant and equipment as per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Check availability, condition, and validity of fire extinguishers.
  • Ensure calibration of monitoring and safety equipment as per recommended schedules.

Housekeeping:

  • Inspect the site for cleanliness, trip hazards, spills, and waste accumulation.
  • Address any housekeeping issues identified.
  • Ensure proper disposal of construction waste and hazardous materials.

Site Security:

  • Ensure effective implementation of appropriate site access system.
  • Verify workers and visitors have valid security passes and have gone through safety induction course (SIC).
  • Inspect site hoarding for unauthorized access prevention.

Environmental Compliance:

  • Verify effective implementation of dust control measures.
  • Verify effective implementation of noise control measures.
  • Ensure erosion control to prevent stormwater pollution.
  • Ensure proper containment measures for hazardous materials.
  • Ensure weekly pest controls are conducted.
  • Manage adverse climatic conditions and determine activities to cease when thresholds are exceeded.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain up-to-date EHS-related documentation and upload into T&T Project EHS SharePoint folder.
  • Ensure all incident reports, safety inspection reports, and non-conformance reports are complete and up to date and saved in T&T project EHS SharePoint.
  • Safety lapses/ good practices to be documented with photo evidence with rectification photos and date for record.
  • Maintain records of scheduled inspections and maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Document safety meetings, training records, authority inspection records, and any relevant photos and share with the team and store within SharePoint.
  • Submit a weekly EHS report to the Project Management (PM) team every Friday for activities in the past week. This should include foresight any risks against EHS matters.
  • Prepare and submit a monthly EHS report to the PM team on the second working day of each month.
  • Consolidate accurate site information on established KPIs to T&T PM as well as client.
  • Maintain and upkeep recurring meeting invites sent / assigned to send.

 

Monthly EHS Tasks:


Training & Certification:

  • Ensure all workers have received necessary safety training and possess relevant certifications.
  • Review training records and address any gaps or additional training needs.
  • Engage with the contractor to reinforce safety protocols and conduct regular toolbox talks or safety briefings.
  • Organise and conduct EHS training about detected EHS deficiencies.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on changes in relevant EHS regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Update the project lead on any key changes that are critical to implement to ensure compliance and awareness to the whole team/stakeholders.
  • Update procedures and practices as necessary to meet regulatory requirements.

Safety Culture Evaluation:

  • Assess the overall safety culture of the construction site through surveys or feedback mechanisms.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the safety culture and develop strategies to strengthen it.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain up-to-date records of monthly safety meetings, pest control reports, and incident reports.
  • Review Risk Assessment (RA) and update monthly/whenever a safely lapse is found (whichever is first) ensuring it is updated and mitigated together with the contractor’s safety team (and construction manager)
  • Perform data analysis of safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct comprehensive safety inspections of the entire worksite to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
  • Review the effectiveness of the contractor's EHS programs and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Discuss EHS performance with the PM team on the first Friday of every month to ensure alignment and address any emerging concerns.
  • Submit the monthly EHS report to the PM team every second working day of each month.
