Job Description

Our PMO is responsible for the monitoring and reporting of programme(s) progress both internally to the Chief Infrastructure Officer and Board. To improve and enhance the role of the Programme Management Office (PMO) an initiative is currently underway to:
• Streamline process and improve governance;
• Develop a portfolio approach to programme delivery;
• Empower decision making;
• Bring to the fore, cost management, schedule management and risk management in decision making; and
• Improve/digitise governance workflows & approvals and embed data driven decision making.

This initiative envisages a transformation to a Programme Management Office (PMO) and work is currently underway.
We currently have an opportunity for a PMO Governance & Business Partner to join the PMO team and deliver the transformation programme, using operational excellence in line with strategy and business goals to support the making of timely decisions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivery: Be the Business partner POC to cover teams forming an emerging portfolio.
  • Support the teams during the yearly business planning round across, and be prepared to support the delivery of the business plan where required.
  • Mature and improve KPI and dashboard reporting focusing on cost quality and time as the performance drivers.
  • Support the teams in resolving issues that arise from the boards.
  • Manage Process improvement delivery and provide regular communications on what is being delivered to the relevant business units.
  • Act as the POC with the business units on business challenges and lead or support these being resolved.
  • Monitor the use and effectiveness of practices (tools and behaviours) and processes in delivering projects and programmes in line with methodology.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of any consultancy work being undertaken.
  • Work with the PMO leads as well as the team managers to deliver discrete pieces of work as required.
  • Develop internal capability, practices and disciplines to support knowledge transfer and adoption of sustainable practices.
  • Build effective customer relations: Develop effective daily formal and informal communications across the business.
     

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

Be prepared to manage the Governance and business unit team in the Absence of the Governance lead.

  • Experience working with Governance and Business Unit teams, identifying and eliminating blockers to delivery. Including process mapping, benefits realisation and programme delivery.
  • Proven experience of leading and/or facilitating continuous improvement. programmes using Lean thinking principles and operational excellence practices
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills – high energy levels, engaging manner and positive attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills and proven ability to work independently.
  • Ability to develop deep understanding of business methodology and approach.
  •  IT Skills – good working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel applications.
