As we move forward with the expansion of our European Industrial business, we now seek experienced Cost Managers/Quantity Surveyors who will join us in helping us deliver these demanding, high value, complex projects.   

Job Description

Turner & Townsend currently have an exciting opportunity for a Cost Manager to support High Tech and Manufacturing projects. This includes High Tech & Manufacturing projects such as battery production facilities, pharma & life sciences, data centres and warehouses. Projects range from large scale and major projects to also highly complex small projects.

Tasks: 

  • Develop, implement and maintain cost management procedures and processes to support projects from inception to completion. 
  • Prepare preliminary, elemental and detailed estimates of construction and related costs. 
  • Review and evaluate / value-engineer design and outline specifications and exercise cost control in conjunction with the project team. 
  • During the construction phase, prepare regular cost reports, cashflow forecasts and progress valuations for payment.
  • Carry out project cost performance analysis to support reporting. 
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative risk analysis on the project costs. 
  • Identify the key programme cost issues and focus attention on the critical elements for delivery within the project. 
  • Identify significant areas of risk based upon forecast information within the cost reports. 
  • Communication of the cost management standards throughout the planning and construction teams. 
  • Design to cost approach, challenge the design solutions to keep the projects budgets within the agreed limits 
  • Prepare budget preparation, as well as cost modeling and benchmarking reviews, and align with senior project stakeholders 

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Real Estate or similar. 
  • Ideally qualified as a registered Quantity Surveyor. 
  • A minimum of 7 years proven experience on constructions projects. 
  • English and German language skills required.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Working knowledge of cost databases and/or estimating software is advantageous.
