Job Description

 

The landfall engineer will be responsible for providing the site engineering support to stakeholders Onshore and Offshore to ensure that landfall ducts are installed, tested without damage and according to project requirements.

 

 

Key Tasks

  • Be technical point of contact for Site interfaces and design/contract requirements.
  • Review contractor's documentation (installation, lifting, etc.) and respond to technical queries from the Contractor and other project team members related to the landfall cable installation.
  • Report and manage the technical risks associated with duct installation equipment and duct components transport, installation and testing.
  • Review contractor documents, drawings and data to ensure the project requirements are met.
  • Support Technical and Construction Manger on project delivery, as required
    • Witness the load-out of cables and post load-out tests
    • To co-ordinate the offshore cable installation and testing
    • Review the implications of changes to the project in terms of technical risks, cost and time.
    • Review of Notices of Completion and Statements.
    • Integrate Installation requirements on designs
    • Review the proposals of the Contractor for changes to workscope or technical variations.

 

  • Participate in periodic meetings with the Contractor
  • Prepare Weekly/ Monthly Progress reports
  • Prepare Minutes from the Progress Meeting
  • Review and accept as built documentation
  • Ensure deliverables are in accordance with contract
  • Analyse the cost and time implications of proposals by the Contractor
  • Report and manage the technical risks associated with cable and accessories transport and installation during the landfall
  • Record times and duration's for all works conducted including working and downtime
  • Monitor and report capital expenditure and forecast costs for completion for the landfall duct and accessories, transport and installation
  • Report immediately on any claim/ variation/ incident together with a proposal for resolution
  • Attend the Site landfall works
  • Witness the site mobilisation and installation of foundation structures for pulling equipment
  • Witness the cable termination
  • Ensure Contractor is completing installation, termination and testing activities in accordance with the project/ testing programme
  • Review the documentation to ensure the installation comply with the Full offshore certification for the duration of the project

Qualifications

Essential

 

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in relevant engineering discipline (e.g. geotechnical, civil, electrical or mechanical)
  • Minimum six years of relevant experience, knowledge and competence within the area of submarine cable installation and beach works as Beach master or similar
  • Computer literate
  • English speaking
  • Full clean driving license
  • Safety Passport or equivalent HS training
  • Welding and testing experience
  • Construction site mobilisation and equipment re-siting during multiple drilling operations
  • Knowledge and working with UK regulation for trenchless operations

 

Desirable

  • Experience on Offshore Cable Installation
  • Management/ supervision training (Irish Certification)
  • Working at height Course
  • GWO, BOSIET or similar
