Job Description
Owing to continued demand and our ambitious plans for growth, Turner & Townsend are looking to recruit Cost Managers and Senior Cost Managers with a proven track record and experience across Natural Resources (Oil, Gas, Chemical, Mining) and new Energies (Offshore Wind, CCUS, Hydrogen) sector. Opportunities are available in our London, Teesside, Edinburgh & Aberdeen offices
Discipline knowledge: civil, structural, mechanical, pipework, electrical, instrumentation, access, insulation, painting
A Quantity Surveying degree is desirable however not mandatory as industrial experience in a similar role is critical
Key Objectives
Cost Managers provide cost & commercial management for major projects or portfolio of Projects which can include Engineering only (study, FEED) or EPC or EPCM or Construction only
Provide project commercial management to clients Engineering & Projects team including
- Cost estimates to include owner cost, EPC/EPCM, procurement & supply chain, construction costs from pre-concept to beneficial operation
- Support project manager with risk management pre and post sanction
- Pre-contract including undertaking contracting & procurement activities including developing scope, commercial & contractual from sourcing strategy through request for bid, tender process through tender evaluation, post tender negotiations, bid analysis to recommendation & contract award
- Oversee a portfolio of projects which can vary in size from several thousand to multi-millions or work on a major project
- Manage funding process including sanction requests to approval process
- Cost management including cost collection, accruals, value of work done, changes, variations, forecast and end life
- Cost reporting including summary and detailed level – including risk and status reporting
- Working with owners team, procurement team, and contractors to validate cost and progress
- Change management including estimate, risk, approvals
- Value of work done to including schedule performance, cost performance, changes, risk – current and end life
- Support PM on commercial and cost position of each project
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in sector
- Suitably qualified & experience operating at Senior Cost Management level
- Discipline knowledge: Industrial mechanical, pipework, electrical, instrumentation, access, insulation, painting (Not MEP in built environment)
- Experience in contract administration and contract management
- Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to work as part of team as well as interacting with client’s representatives
- Working experience in high regulated industries including energy, power, process
- Computer literate including use of MS office packages specifically a working knowledge of Excel, emails, etc
- Experience of SAP or a similar system
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
