Job Description

Turner & Townsend are currently seeking a cost manager to work across several projects supporting our project management commission leads. The position will be based in the T&T office in Franklin, TN and may entail some occasional travel. Successful applicants will have experience with cost management on manufacturing and industrial projects with a strong estimating and contract management background.

Specifics activities include:

  • Understanding of feasibility and up-front design estimating practices.
  • Background in benchmarking and construction costs relating to retail and automotive and construction in general.
  • Can read and understand drawings related to typical construction standards (structural, architectural and MEP).
  • Background in building and maintaining bespoke excel tools/databases is a plus.
  • Access key cost information within Turner & Townsend and the market place to develop and establish project cost benchmarking
  • Establish key information requirements with design teams to support development of estimates
  • Develop cost estimates in line with formal design stages
  • Provide financial targets for design development and identify and target areas for value improvement
  • Provide input to the PEP and support the development of focus areas and details plans
  • Establish cost controls and monitor throughout project life cycle
  • Utilize client systems and extract relevant data
  • Evaluate and analyze bids and provide recommendation for decision making
  • Provide cost forecasts and cashflow analysis
  • Maintain and manage cost reports and provide regular updates on financial position
  • Input to the risk register and evaluation / costing of identified risks
  • Provide financial advice to support change management process
  • Evaluate, and recommend approval, and/or rejection of cost of proposed change orders
  • Evaluation of contractor claims and provide advice to project leadership team
  • Evaluation of contractor works completed on site and validate against schedule of works
  • Develop and provide core information and input for gateway reviews as required.
  • Reconcile and close out construction contract accounts

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience of cost management / estimating experience
  • Ability to coordinate, manage, and organize multiple sources of performance data and translate into visually simple graphics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, including documentation
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • The tenacity and drive to inject value and create solutions
  • Experience in business operational procedures
  • Desire to learn T&T cost estimating skills / methodologies / tools.
  • Positive, flexible attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to utilize all the common Microsoft tools to make persuasive cases to support strategic objectives.
  • Proficient in the application of following tools or systems: Microsoft Office Suite, MS365, Bluebeam, RSMeans, CostX
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, MEP, and structural building drawings
  • Understanding of construction costs related to industry standards
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships
