Job Description

We are currently recruiting Senior Project Managers, to join our busy and expanding Irish Infrastructure business, supporting our clients across a range on prestigious infrastructure projects across Ireland.

Purpose:

  • To lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end to end service delivery, often with respect to large or complex projects.
  • To act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.

Key Duties:

  • Accountable for the delivery of projects in either the water/rail or aviation sectors with the focus on budget, schedule and quality output;
  • Manage directly, and in certain circumstances liaise with others in the management of and engagement with a set of internal and external stakeholders, including Technical Services providers, internal and external Project Managers, HSQE and all other client departments, to ensure project timescales are met;
  • Assist in the procurement (where appropriate), manage and direct a diverse range of Consultant expertise across a multi- disciplinary set of skills including Engineering Design (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural), Environmental, Archaeological, Quantity Surveying and Accountancy;
  • Oversee the management of construction project design, estimation and project planning including all relevant statutory processes, procurement management and maintenance forecasting, working closely with all Irish Water Departments (e.g. Asset Management, HSQE, Communications, Customer Operations and Asset Operations Departments);
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of construction service providers for all Asset Delivery projects/programmes, including scheduling, reporting, conformance and compliance with contract terms and employer’s requirements;
  • Management and delivery of Projects/Programmes through the Design Risk Review/Risk Workshop process;
  • Accountable for management of project control, including resourcing and service delivery requirements, ensuring Consultant supervision where relevant and approving all payment certificates;
  • KPI Management across a number of different Consultancy and Construction contracts;
  • Manage the delivery of contracts including contract administration, governance of outsourced design review, technical assurance, specialist studies, estimation services, and construction supervision;
  • Manage production and approval of project delivery plans, contractor plans, cash flow projections and earned value analysis;
  • Accountable for completion of the project close-out activities, including commissioning and handover to Operations and Maintenance;
  • Manage, assess and approve changes and impact on budgets and delivery dates and claims for additional costs and extensions of time. Review any planned scope changes with the client’s Programme Portfolio Manager;
  • Manage preparation and submit regular project reports, registers (including Risk Registers) programme reports for contract management as well as ad-hoc reports.
  • Accountable for aggregated risk mitigation and resolution of issues relating to managed projects;
  • Carry out regular reviews of programme and project progress, budgets, changes, risks and issues, and ensure that reports and scorecards are produced and circulated in a timely manner;
  • Input into the on-going development of new templates, documents, systems and processes for Project/programme management to incorporate lessons learned and efficiencies;
  • Any other duties delegated by the client Programme Management team.

Qualifications

  • Hold a relevant third level qualification preferably in Engineering or related Project management discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing large or multiple infrastructure/capital projects/programmes in either water, rail or aviation sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience in project/programme management, contract management (i.e. through use of major contract forms e.g. NEC3, FIDIC or similar), strategic planning, methodologies and construction delivery best practice.
  • Strong business acumen with financial perspective in the forefront.
  • Experience using project, programme and finance management tools such as Oracle and Primavera P6 or similar, Experience managing a large team, with strong people and conflict resolution and commercial contract management skills.
  • Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion, along with the ability to communicate complex information to others.
  • Proven ability to successfully implement and execute programmes and drive high performance. Knowledge and experience of mobilising and managing the supply chain, including design, planning and construction services;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
