Job Description

As an experienced Project Controls Manager your responsibility is to establish the required project control processes, templates, and tools necessary to establish an agreed baseline for cost and schedule, in addition to, monitoring performance against it incorporating the impacts of risk, opportunities and change in a controlled manner.

 Cost managment and controls:

  • Knowledge of conceptual estimating and experience in working with clients through various funding stage gates for approval on inital project funding.
  • Knowledge of typical industry standard design phases from conceptual design to detailed design and ability to assist as needed in tracking variations to the estimate or budget until the project has recieved fully approved funding.
  • Ability to lead in project team preliminary risk evaluations, assisting with defined risks and working with client team at project initiation to ensure risks are addressed in budget.
  • Understanding of basic contingency principals and ability to work with client management team to establish appropriate planned or baseline contingency total amount needed for the project.
  • Knowledge of procurement principals and ablity to work with procurement to understand the requirements and inclusions in contracts and total cost of work packages.
  • Ability to create and/or work within a cost report; required to reflect the appropriate level of detail for day to day project cost controls and performance.
  • Ability to lead regular meetings throughout the project lifecycle to monitor risks and determine the quantitative impacts before including in a robust schedule and cost project forecast.
  • Understand change management principals and lead an agreed change management process/ work flow on behalf of the client team that will provide a platform for adding and tracking potential changes, monitoring those changes through the approval processes, and applying quantitative impacts for cost and schedule as needed for the updating the overall project forecasted cost and schedule position

Schedule Managment and Control:

  • Ability to coordinate and lead multiple pull planning session/ facilitation workshops as required with client and vendor(s) to compile an appropriately leveled master project (or programme) schedule with an agreed, fully engaged baseline with a clearly defined critical path.
  • Knowledge of procurement principals and ablity to collate lead times from vendors and the client of critical long lead building materials and equipment.
  • Working closely with the client to define vendor schedule requirements ensuring robust processes are in place.
  • Ability to actively participate in project team risk evaluation.
  • Ablity to determine appropriate level of schedule contingency for the baseline master schedule; managing and tracking this contingency duration through the life of the schedule.
  • Work closely with the project team to stay informed on status of project changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Build Environment/ Construction Management, a minimum of 8 years of Project Controls experience.
  • Track record of achievement in Project Controls, preferably with a formal qualification in Project Management or one of the project controls disciplines (cost or schedule)
  • Skilled in Project Controls systems, Primavera mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving abilities
  • Experience of developing and embedding programme control processes
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and comfortable with being client facing
