Under the guidance of the Accounts Receivable Manager, the Patient Accounts Specialist II is Responsible for timely submission of home health and hospice billing for multiple third party payers including, but not limited to, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial carriers and self pays.  Manages accounts receivables from admission through satisfaction of balance.

Essential Functions: 

  • Generate monthly claims according to the month end close schedule
  • Screen claims to confirm they are compliant with federal and insurance requirements and guidelines, make corrections as applicable 
  • Manage and maintain accounts receivable in accordance with team standards and established policies and procedures, emphasis on timely follow up
  • Prepare information on all claims over 90 days and report to manager as required
  • Communicate with insurance companies as necessary to avoid delinquent accounts
  • Submit adjustment and write off requests as they become known
  • Coordinate with Intake, Coding and Authorization departments

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work & Travel 

This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility based on position. This is a hybrid position with 1 day in office, 4 days remotely after training period is complete.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Associates degree in business or related field a plus.
  • Team Lead or Supervisor experience a plus.
  • Current knowledge of rules and regulations governing third party payers and working knowledge of various billing tasks.
  • Knowledge of computerized billing and A/R systems and various PC based programs (Excel, MS Word)
