Job Description

  • Under the direct supervision of the Site Lead, Clinical Supervisor and Medical Director the Psychiatric Clinical Assistant is reponsible for a wide variety of duties.  
  • Prescription support - calling patients, pharmacy, checking MassPat, when appropriate.
  • Setting up prescriptions by documenting last appointment and next appointment.
  • Prescription prior authorization support – assist prescribers in completing prior authorization process, including filling out forms and calling payers.  
  • Insurance authorization – assist clinicians in obtaining authorizations.  
  • Assist in making referrals to other providers.
  • Acts as the patient's advocate in booking specialist appointments and diagnostic services.
  • Schedules patients for these services and obtains referral to enhance efficiency. 
  • Complete various patient letters (jury duty, housing authority, airlines, utilities) etc.  
  • Assist with filling out patient disability and leave of absence forms.  
  • Assist with medical record requests and adhere to HIPAA regulations.  
  • Update EMR registration to make sure patient information is correct.
  • Assist front desk in calling patients to remind them of appointments.
  • Calling patients when they missed an appointment.  
  • Scan all consults, letters, hospital interaction sheets, discharges, admission sheets, and clinical notes in patient EMR.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • HS graduate or equivalent with 1-2 years college preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 - 3 years experience in a psychiatric or medical practice setting.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Patient, organized, attention to detail, follow-up with multiple conflicting demands.  Flexible with diverse information.  Maintains positive interpersonal skills.
