We're looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join the Trusonic team and lead software delivery through bringing your agile leadership and coaching to our software engineering teams.  This is a remote based role, however we do have teams based in Cambridge, Ukraine and France and so there may be a requirement for you to travel to these locations from time to time.

Job Description

A bit about the team and what you'll deliver...

The PMO team is responsible for planning and delivering several product lines and professional services projects for various customers.

As scrum master, you will bring your expertise in agile, coaching and leading our agile software engineering teams to prioritise and deliver the best business outcomes. This involves close interactions with product, architecture and wider PMO teams.

As Scrum Master, you will:

  • Assure that the team follows Scrum and SAFe ways of operating
  • Help the team meet their daily and iteration objectives
  • Work to remove impediments in the organization for the team to deliver against objectives or escalate appropriately
  • Manage the teams' relationships with outside stakeholders
  • Facilitate team continuous improvement
  • Coordinate solution implementation and delivery with other Scrum Masters on the Release Train.
  • Facilitate key sessions
  • Engage with product owners
  • Coach and mentor the team within the Scrum principles in order to deliver high quality features and products.
  • Promote self-organization within the team. 
  • Help the team take responsibility for their actions, working through interpersonal conflict and other team performance issues, facilitating the retrospective, and helping the team become problem solvers for themselves
  • Help foster best Software Engineering practices
  • Work with the business and the team to ensure product and sprint backlogs are maintained and provide regular reporting of key progress metrics to stakeholders.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where impediments can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure the user story life cycle is fit for purpose Stay on top of backlog refinement liaising closely with Product Owner
  • Support estimation
  • In the context of an Agile Release Train, the Scrum Master has additional responsibilities:
    • Coordinates with other Scrum Masters, the System Team, and shared resources in the ART
    • Release Planning and Inspect and Adapt ceremonies
    • Facilitates preparation and readiness for release planning and ceremonies
    • Coordinates with other Scrum Masters in the Scrum of Scrums

Experience

 

  • You have worked as a scrum master position in a SAFe context before and have been able to plan large internal and customers challenges in a time constrained landscape using a limited number of resources
  • You are a strong Agile practitioner and are able to coach the teams to develop their autonomy and agility
  • You are familiar with complex technologies landscape or security software
  • You will be someone who developers can look to for guidance and support.
  • You will know what it takes to build + lead successful teams - and have the stories to go with it!

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or project management or equivalent experience
  • Certified scrum master or Professional Scrum Master 

Essential Skills

  • A high degree of natural ability to be organized and organize others with influencer or external leadership skills
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience internally (product management, exec team, broader engineering team, finance, …) and externally (customers, suppliers, contractors, …)
  • Strong Influencing skills and negotiation/mediation skills
  • Ability to motivate and drive focus for internal/external people not under direct reporting
  • Ability to problem-solve any challenge with creativity, organization and patience
  • Fluency in English is required as it is the business language in the Company

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Agile approach: Scrum, Nexus
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile frameworks: Scrum of Scrums, SAFe
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Use of JIRA BigPicture, MS Project or similar PPM/project management tools
  • Use of recent version of Microsoft Office tools
  • Awareness of security software
