We’re looking for a Principal Architect to join our Telecoms Platform Engineering team. You will be part of a team responsible for defining the end to end cloud architecture for & delivering a platform serving the millions of users across the telecoms market globally.

A member of the Engineering team, you will be at the heart of the business responsible for owning and defining our telecoms platform architecture and collaborating on the overall strategic direction. You will work with other engineering leaders, solution architects, product managers, customers, and stakeholders to define the overall architecture and collaborate in defining the overall platform direction, whilst closely engaged with engineering teams to build out the platform, inline with customer/market needs.

Reporting to our Chief Technology Officer we are looking for a individual with demonstrable cloud platform experience (AWS) of delivering a cloud-native device management service, and a people leader.

As Principal Architect, you will: 

• Be the Technical Architect/Subject Matter Expert to define technology strategy and introducing innovative solutions through our Telecoms Cloud Platforms.
• Introduce and establish core a Architecture framework to deliver a high standard of development practices.
• Lead and guide colleagues and team members in the Design, Build and Deployment requirements based on agreed technical documentation/specifications.
• Lead stakeholder sessions to understand complex challenges and assist with proposing solutions to meet those needs.
• Own proofs of concept and developing innovative solutions to uncover new opportunities and expand existing relationships.
• Have the ability to think laterally, critically and solve business use cases to provide fit for purpose solutions.
• Have a strong desire to maintain a high level of continuous learning in the latest tools, processes and methodology available in market.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendors.
• Provide Leadership/mentorship to direct team members

Who you are…

As Principal Architect , you will have:

• A clear desire to work in smaller company moving at a fast pace, often charting uncharted domains, and be able to own what the direction, leadership, driving engineering teams and expect clear outcomes from your inputs
• Have Architecture and Cloud (AWS) technical experience, and understand how to a build carrier grade platform
• Have built platforms, products & services, and have demonstrable experience in working with globally distributed teams
• Experience owning the design, build and deployment of AWS Cloud platforms. Must possess the necessary AWS industry certifications.
• Experience building resilient architectures including leveraging native AWS services to ensure highly-available, loosely coupled designs.
• Experience building performant architectures across availability zones and leveraging services for elasticity, scalability and caching.
• Experience designing cost-optimized architectures including both storage and compute resources
• Experience designing operationally lean architectures with focus on operational efficiency, and supportability 
• Have experience working in the Telecoms landscape
• A willingness to be hands on and contribute to the delivery of projects using modern software development
• Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail. Fluent English language (written and verbal) skills are a must. Any other language skills will be a bonus.
• Comfortable independently developing and implementing recommended approaches to complex or ambiguous problems while making thoughtful trade-offs

What makes you, you…

Experience

• Significant experience in the design and implementation of solutions at scale (including scalable cloud-based solutions and microservices architectures
• AWS Architect Professional Certificate, AWS Developer Professional Certificate
• Experience with automation to deploy and manage infrastructure, database and networking architectures for Internet-scale applications
• Strong understanding of the software security, telecoms eco-system is a must have.
• Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, and ability to work within startup environment is a must have or demonstrate attitude to work in a fluid & dynamic environment
• Excellent communication skills are important, since candidate must work across various functional areas (engineering, sales, marketing, financial, legal and exec) and with external partners and customers; oral & written
• Candidate must have a proven ability to analyze market, technical requirements, entertain high-level architecture discussion with customers and partners, define products and solutions, drive them to market, and position them to win.
• Experience in agile methodology
• Experience with software security technologies

Qualifications

·       undergraduate degree or equivalent level of skill, experience and knowledge

Knowledge:

• deep knowledge of AWS, and cloud platforms eco-systems
•  awareness of security platforms
• knowledge of software development lifecycle
• knowledge of Android, iOS, mobile OEMS, silicons, and cloud platforms
• Knowledge of best practices and market trends pertaining to Cloud and overall industry to provide thought leadership and mentoring teams to build necessary competency

Desirable skills: 

·       use of JIRA and other engineering tools
