Job Description
With Trupanion’s commitment and investment in leading-edge insurance technology, we are looking for an Automated Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. As a member of our Veterinarian Technology Platform team, you will be joining an experienced team of project managers, business analysts, developers and testers, using the latest toolsets in an Agile framework to deliver our flagship solution. Working in an agile framework on a SaaS scalable cloud-based solution within an Azure DevOps environment, you will be responsible for designing, developing and executing automated test cases to ensure the software created by developers fits its purpose. Collaborating closely with our project managers, business analysts, developers, DevOps and manual testers, you will prove the functional and non-functional requirements of Trupanion systems.
Candidates located in the Seattle area are preferred, however strong remote candidates may be considered. If you are based in the Seattle area, you will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Plan, design, develop and execute automated test cases to identify risks, find defects, perform regression testing, and complete non-functional assessments (e.g. performance/load testing) using an AI-first mindset
- Provide inputs on high-level test scenarios, challenges, risks, resources, test estimates during test planning meetings, and proactively identify potential areas for test automation
- Analyze test results, detect and track issues, and interact with the developers to resolve technical issues
- Effectively communicate issues, objectives, initiatives, and performance against a test plan
- Perform all work in accordance with the company’s documented development, OWASP, ISO27001 and PCI DSS standards and guidelines
- Promote and embody Trupanion’s Team DNA in all aspects of your work and interactions with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or related equivalent experience
- Certification in Quality Assurance preferred (ex. ISTQB, CAST, ASQ)
- 2 or more years of experience in an Automation Quality Assurance Engineer position or similar role, focused on the following areas:
- Working in an Azure application environment, testing scalable solutions with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of Agile testing
- Working in an Agile environment, utilizing DevOps, and CI/CD practices
- Working in a testing capacity using a variety of testing techniques, and automation testing tools
Skills:
- Proficient using Jira and Azure DevOps
- Planning, designing, writing, executing, and maintaining test automation
- Firsthand knowledge of automated testing tools e.g. Selenium, Playwright, Virtuoso
- Knowledge of C#, .NET framework, SQL Server, and quality standards and regulations
- Automating API calls with knowledge of RESTful APIs and Postman
- Experience with practical LLM and Agentic AI application to test using Codex, Claude or Copilot
- Great troubleshooting skills, strong accuracy and diligence, and time management skills
- Expert problem-solving and analytical skills, able to determine the impact of an issue quickly to prioritize further work
Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is $110,000 -$135,000, on a full-time schedule.
- Along with base compensation, Trupanion employees are currently eligible for monthly bonuses.
- We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
