Job Description

The Business Development Representative is responsible for improving our market position to win contracts through identification, qualification, development, definition, shaping, and closing of business relationships and contracts by leveraging experience and relationships within Commercial/Medical, DoD/Intel and Federal Civilian & State market segments. The Business Development Representative will:

  • work in a blended sales and business development role to acquire new customers and opportunities, and present opportunities to company senior leaders to promote business growth in accordance with our established business acquisition process (BAP) and current year Booking Plan;
  • establish relationships with government contracting officers, contracting specialists, and Office of Small Business representatives.
  • have a conceptual understanding of Microsoft and other cloud technologies, the marketplace and the current trends and governing US cloud policies and initiatives.
  • have a solid understanding of technology solution, services delivery sales;
  • continually monitor, acquire and evaluate procurement forecasts.
  • contribute to the existing pipeline of qualified opportunities by applying Shipley processes and systems for the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of information on opportunities necessary to make informed recommendations for pursuit and capture. This includes screening potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, deal potential, and deal financials; evaluating options; and resolving internal priorities
  • introduce the company to new customers and expanding on existing business.
  • establish relationships with customers, understanding the customer’s needs, identifying work, matching company resources to the customers’ requirements, and closing deals;
  • participate in the development of proposals and win strategies; and
  • contribute to the Company’s profitability and revenue growth, and negotiate contracts to achieve the highest fee possible.

Qualifications

  REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, or finance (or related area)
  • Ability to network and market technology services to government and commercial customers, push the limits of technology, make decisions, and close deals.
  • Technical background with the drive to stay current with emerging technology (apps, mobile, development, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, handle quick turn-around tasks and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Adept and experienced at using analytical and administrative tools like Microsoft Office Suite, Dynamics CRM or other tools deemed appropriate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity and experience with various contracting regulations.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft office and general office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and lead significant change initiatives.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous Microsoft Sales & Business Development experience, a plus
  • Prior government contracting experience 
  • Business Development/Sales Certifications

LOCATION:   Full-time position in Herndon, Virginia. Up to 60% travel may be required. Consultant will have an opportunity to support the client both onsite and remotely.
