Job Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing primary supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement on cost & quality metrics. This position will serve as the primary contact for our restaurants and distribution partners while managing supplier relationships, purchasing strategies, and sourcing processes.  In addition, the Senior Purchasing Manager will be responsible for ensuring all new markets are properly set up and that all contracted items are available at all times.

Principal Accountabilities:

Strategic Sourcing

  • Leverage analytical insights & capabilities to maximize items under contract while verifying pricing is accurate in all markets
  • Work directly with Sr. Purchasing Analyst and Head of Purchasing to develop road map for future strategic sourcing strategies and partnerships  to drive long-term cost & brand level objectives
  • Ensure all new markets are set up and supplier contracts are in place prior to new restaurant openings to leverage national scale for best overall pricing and service commitment levels
  • Partner with culinary team on the identification, sourcing, development, testing and roll-out of profitable and cost-effective new menu items and ingredients
  • Reduce overall cost for new restaurant openings through strategic partnerships and alignment with Operations & Facilities to leverage scale and reduce operational complexity

Supply Chain

  • Provide day to day Supply Chain oversight and management to optimize supply chain ensuring operational targets and service level agreements are met
  • Leverage and maximize national distribution partnerships to drive local and regional initiatives
  • Oversee operational production and inventory planning to optimize service, cost, and capacity utilization
  • Utilize inventory management reporting with input from Sr. Purchasing Analyst to drive store level operational improvements regarding product usage, waste and pricing
  • Communicate all major transition timelines to operations while maintaining high level visibility to Director of Purchasing and Senior Leadership

Qualifications

  • 5+ years supply chain experience, including oversight responsibilities at high-volume, high-growth, multi-unit restaurant concepts
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, including excellent negotiation skills and strong knowledge of commodity markets
  • Proven ability to lead quantitative and qualitative analyses supporting critical decisions on vendor selection and product specifications
  • Expertise in successfully managing supply agreements including systematic quality and compliance monitoring
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics with established track record of driving cost improvement through supply chain initiatives
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally (culinary, operations, finance, IT, marketing) to design and implement operating improvements
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills with ability to generate respect and trust from senior team, restaurants and external constituencies
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to all levels of employees; ability to present complex, detailed information in a simple, summarized format
