Job Description

Internship Overview

The True Food Kitchen Intern will be an integral part of the marketing communications team with primary responsibilities to include writing, content creation, local store marketing (LSM) strategy and management.  Desired experience for the intern includes a keen understanding of traditional and digital marketing, social media and public relations. The Marketing intern will report to the True Food Kitchen Brand Manager in the company’s new home office in Phoenix, Ariz.  This is a paid internship during the timeframe of January 2018 through June 2018 with the opportunity to continue with a full-time position in the marketing department after the internship concludes. The Intern will start as early as January 2, 2018.

Roles & Responsibilities

Local Store Marketing:

  • Manage and fulfill incoming donation and/or sponsorship requests from potential partners (gift card requests)
    • Vet all incoming gift card donation and sponsorship requests through phone or email and consult with the Brand Manager on available budget for any requests that fit with the True Food Brand.
    • Manage the documentation of gift card donations with Accounting through the Aloha online portal and Excel donation log.
  • Regular Communication to Restaurant’s Property Marketing/Communication Teams
    • Manage and update property contact information document by providing all up-to-date property contact information and onsite events, newsletters, timing, and due dates.
    • Draft and distribute newsletters/pitches to communicate seasonal menu updates, brand promotions/campaigns, and event information prior to launches of new programs to ensure they’re included in property’s newsletter to their database.
  • Partnerships & Events:
    • Research and recommend new brand partners in each local market that would be a good fit for True Food event participation
    • Draft and work with design team to create Eventbrite links for each local ticketed event and manage the RSVP’s to ensure all events are sold out in advance.

Digital & Social Media Management:

  • Website
    • Ensure website is updated with seasonal promotions and updates each quarter – including but not limited to updating content and copy, writing headlines, updating with new photography, etc.
    • Ensure that all clickable links are directing to their appropriate destinations and work with the brand’s digital agency to make necessary changes.
  • Social Media Management
    • Work with digital agency and brand manager to deliver timely and relevant content across all social channels.  Review the agency’s monthly social content / editorial calendar for grammar, etc.
  • External Digital Platforms: Open Table, Google, Yelp, SmugMug (Photo Mgmt)
    • Ensure all True Food Kitchen locations pages across all social platforms has correct location information (i.e. address, phone number, menu, etc.) and is updated with seasonal promotions, etc.
    • Download and add new seasonal photography and any photos from New Restaurant Openings to photo-sharing folder

Public Relations

  • Writing:  Media Alerts, Press Releases, Pitches
    • Draft press releases, media alerts and pitches for new store openings and work with PR agencies in local markets to ensure that they have the most current information regarding menu items, personnel announcements, etc.
    • Send new local publication, blogger and social media alerts to store team in a timely manner.
  • Media Reservations
    • Communicate any new media RSVP information to the store team (including GM, Store Team email, EC and Brand Manager).
    • Add new media RSVP information to store team’s calendars
    • Add new media RSVP to Open Table, specifying the media reservation details in notes section.

Ongoing Market Insight & Competitive Analysis

  • Share weekly competitor updates and reports with Brand Manager and Director of Marketing including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Overview of True Food’s competitors and what they’re doing in the digital space (i.e. social media, apps, etc.)?
    • Research innovative campaigns, emails, or promotions
    • Research and recommend local store marketing partnerships and cross-collaborations
  • Monitor competitor openings in each market and note any implications or impact this could have on our restaurant in that market
  • Monitor competitor pricing and create spreadsheets that document pricing by market

Qualifications

This is a paid internship during the timeframe of January 2018 through June 2018 with the opportunity to continue with a full-time position in the marketing department after the internship concludes.
