Job Title: Technician II

Location: Houston, TX 77060
Job Type: Contract (Contingent – NES Standard)
Duration: ~12 Months
Pay Rate: $25 - 30/hour on W2
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day (40 hours/week)

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of manufacturing equipment used in non-metallic/poly pipe production. This position focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving mechanical, electrical, and automated systems to minimize downtime and maintain high-quality production standards.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair issues in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble machinery safely and efficiently.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

  • Conduct real-time troubleshooting during equipment failures.
  • Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify root causes and implement fixes.
  • Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns to reduce production downtime.

Automation & Control Systems

  • Maintain and support PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
  • Assist with installation, upgrades, and optimization of control systems.
  • Ensure automation systems are functioning efficiently and reliably.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Support development and execution of maintenance schedules.
  • Apply predictive maintenance techniques to improve equipment lifespan.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Prepare detailed reports on equipment faults and corrective actions.
  • Communicate technical issues clearly to engineering and operations teams.

Team Collaboration

  • Work independently and collaboratively with production and engineering teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or electrical/electronic repair
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Hydraulic systems
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • PLCs
    • HMIs
    • VFDs
    • Control electronics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing or pipe production environments
  • Familiarity with automation systems and industrial controls
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic tools
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
