Job Description

This is an entry-level position. It is intended for recent graduates. It’s a contract position until July 2017.

Critical requirements

  1. Very strong MS Office skills
  2. Some experience with CAT tools and alignment

Tasks:

1. Analyze files, make sure that everything is editable. If not, list missing elements and request from client.

2. Ensure that all the necessary elements are available for translation. Mask required text when needed and prepare files so they're ready to launch in translation.

3. Alignment of translation documents for the creation of translation memories

4. Checking alignments

5. Create, maintain and keep updated terminological reference tools (glossaries, translation memories).

6. Preparation of alignments (looking for published documents on clients’ websites),

7. Terminological extractions to create glossaries

8. Quality assurance on workflow management tool and QC on paper

9. Preparation of files for quotes and projects’ launching (cleaning and/or reformatting if necessary, application of clients’ instructions etc.)

10. Booking translation teams

11. Helping Senior PMs (on treatment of 95% for example)

12. Communication and collaboration with senior project managers and account managers based in Paris or International team

Qualifications

· Excellent English speaking skills, both written and verbal

· Some knowledge of French is beneficial

· Exposure to CAT tools to analyze files is helpful. We will train.

· Very tech-savvy with MS Word and Excel for file preparation

· You must have your own computer. The computer should be equipped with a webcam and microphone for video conference. Also sign up for both Google Hangout and Skype accounts.

· Have your own Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat

· You must have reliable high-speed Internet connection


Experience

· 0-1 year in the translation industry, preferably in the role of an assistant or associate project manager

· College or university degree in English, communications, translation, or equivalent

1. Are you available and prepared to work 1 PM to 10 PM PM, Central European Time, if needed?

2. Are you available and prepared to work 4 PM to midnight, Central European Time, if needed?

3. Do you have strong MS Office skills and will you be able to take a couple tests?

4. Do you have any personal or professional obligations that would prevent you from working fulltime from January until April 30? Except for extreme emergencies, time off is not permitted during this period.

5. The position requires doing some repetitive tasks. Are you able to perform such repetitive tasks?
