Job Description

Quark Expeditions is seeking a dynamic, personable individual who is looking to combine a love of adventure & expedition travel with their progressive logistical expertise to ensure smooth sailing for all our Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. This role will be based out of our Toronto offices and will work among our Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizing set-up and pack-up logistics for our expedition season start-up through end of season activities
  • Managing the logistical aspects of shipping gear to various international ports as well as rendezvous with our company's vessel fleet
  • Oversee expedition supply procurement including; inventory analysis, purchasing plans and budgeting for each season
  • Executing inventory tracking and analysis
  • Main point of contact for supply transfers as well as any supply-related field questions
  • Work cross-functionally with other internal departments for projects and daily activities
  • Drive process improvement within the operations department
  • Managing a team of Operations Procurement Specialists by providing leadership, mentoring and support
  • Some travel will be required

 

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in shipping and/or logistics
  • Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Natural problem solver
  • Mastery of Excel and understanding of Quickbooks software
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively in an ambiguous environment
  • Comfortable using your analytical and quantitative acumen
  • Experience managing purchasing plans and budgets
  • Knowledge of vessel and/or expedition operations helpful
  • Knowledge of polar regions a plus
  • Strong team-player and sense of integrity
