Job Description

Activity Director - Lead Resident Engagement and Recovery

At our center, we know emotional well-being is as important as clinical care.  As our Activities Director, you will design and lead programs that bring joy, connection, and life-purpose to our residents.  This could involve leading exercise groups, team sport activities, and taking a therapeutic approach to social engagement & redirecting behaviors.

  • This is not a geriatric environment - we don't want you to play Bingo all day. We are seeking a director with therapeutic recreational approaches to mental health prevention and a willingness to work closely with our Psych Rehab team. Bring your out-of-the-box ideas! You will be helping our residents (primarily a male population) to find new engaging hobbies, redirect and focus on positive reinforcements, team sports ... and so much more.
  • This would be a great position for a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

What your day could look like:

  • Lead daily activity groups like fitness, music, sports, games and other therapeutic programs
  • Develop personalized plans/calendars/events and monitor documentation
  • Supervise and train Activity Aides
  • Ensure compliance with IDPH regulations
  • Manage program resources and budgets

Why Join Us?

  • Make a meaningful difference every day
  • Work in a supportive, team-based behavioral health setting
  • Help residents heal, connect, and thrive

Qualifications

Activity / Activities Director:  Officially we title this job an Activities Director, but in other centers it may be called a Manager of Life Enrichment.

What we need from you:

  • Certified Activity Director (the 36-hour certification course for the state of IL)
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting as an Activity Director is strongly preferred
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is ideal, but not required
  • Extensive involvement with leading a dynamic team, creating an engaging events calendar and managing the individual needs of behavioral health patients that address their physical, cognitive and social deficits
  • Electronic medical records experience (Point Click Care)

You will work with a team that appreciates and respects the work you do every day.

Come join us.
