Job Description
The senior buyer will be responsible for evaluating, establishing and executing the procurement strategies most appropriate to the company’s objectives for the purchasing of Technical Operations, while respecting the policies of the organization. The agreements that will be put in place will optimize the total cost of acquisition, maintain or improve the quality of the products and/or services required as per the timeline while minimizing business risks.
Responsibilities
Establish Procurement Strategies and negotiate agreements that optimize the services while meeting operational and financial objectives of the company as well the policies of the organization.
- Develop and maintain good business relationships with suppliers and key partners in the industry;
- Strategic watch and attend committees and conferences in the industry;
- Work continuously in partnership with Technical Operations to understand and support their needs, objectives and contribute to their success;
- Perform market research and identify potential suppliers;
- Draft the tender documents and lead the complete tender exercise;
- Analyze supplier proposals (quantitative and qualitative analysis, risk);
- Negotiate terms and conditions in compliance with internal processes and policies;
- Prepare the draft contract to reflect the completed negotiations;
- Manage contract and the relationship with key partners (signature, changes, invoice discrepancy, compliance, business reviews and monitoring);
- Conduct spend analysis and recommend business improvement initiatives;
- Support the internal clients in supplier’s performance evaluation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in administration or the equivalent;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement;
- Experience in technical operations within the aviation industry;
- Highly developed sense of customer service and communication and writing skills;
- Knowledge of administration and skills in analysis and problem solving;
- Skills developed in negotiation;
- Ability to manage multiple files at once;
- Knowledge of SAP and MS Office;
- Available to travel occasionally;
- Bilingual (French and English), spoken and written*.
*A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
