Job Description

Purpose

 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for setting up an operational analytics center of expertise within the organization to support all operational entities linked to flight operations, by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to establish a more predictive, holistic use. The main mandate of this Center of Expertise, overseen by the data scientist, will be to interpret raw data, both structured and unstructured, in order to develop descriptive and predictive analytics models. As a data scientist, you will have functional and direct authority over a team of specialists. Your primary mandate will involve processing all data and, using specific algorithms and modeling processes, build an intelligible ecosystem with a global vision, to better target critical issues and align our processes and operations.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and implement descriptive and predictive custom data models and algorithms for the analysis of complex and diversified data to solve strategic operational issues.
  • Generate hypotheses and identify relevant data (internal or external) to address specific operational challenges for both internal customers and the Center of Expertise.
  • Design, assess and develop innovative automated learning models and generate software products to provide recommendations to operations.
  • Ensure the integrity of the organization's data to be used for analysis and modeling to ensure the proper development of automated processes and broad-spectrum data analysis.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders and develop an understanding of the different operational issues and needs of various business partners.
  • Contribute to the optimization of operational processes with the various stakeholders.
  • Develop and optimize codes, data, models, and solutions to improve internal practices and work methods based on scientific data analysis and artificial intelligence.
  • Improve internal business processes by influencing the various stakeholders.
  • Supervise all team operations, testing, modeling, and maintaining implemented data analytics solutions.
  • Work in an operational and multidisciplinary environment, alongside operations managers, specialists, engineers, etc., and align this expertise with designing data models.
  • Ensure that users take full ownership of the various tooling solutions.
  • In collaboration with the relevant sectors, develop service standards and action plans aimed at the continuous improvement of customer satisfaction for all activities of the Analytics Center of Expertise, and oversee their implementation.
  • Monitor trends and best practices in their area of expertise.
  • Report to the COO and any other senior executives to provide guidance and support in decision-making.
  • Participate in all committees, projects, or optimization processes within their areas of expertise.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in computer science or mathematics.
  • Excellent skills in developing and interpreting analytical and predictive data models.
  • Proficiency in the use of artificial intelligence tools and related systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of model development in an intelligible ecosystem.
  • Strong environmental awareness and ability to adapt.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex analytical concepts to a wide audience.
  • Experience in developing predictive and holistic models, particularly in large-scale operational environments.
  • Proactive, flexible, and good communicator.
  • Methodical and rigorous, with strong analytical skills.
  • Customer-oriented with a good understanding of business challenges.
  • Team and project manager.
  • Minimum of six years of experience as a data scientist, notably in the development of predictive models based on artificial intelligence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in French and English essential.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, proven organizational abilities and excellent team spirit.
  • Knowledge of the airline industry, an asset.
