Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Total Compensation, the Benefits Managers will be responsible for the complete benefits portfolio for all Transat employees in Canada (unionized and non-unionized groups). More specifically, this person will be responsible for three group insurance plans, the retirement savings plan, the stock purchase plan, the EFAP and other global compensation programs such as the employee travel benefits program (Blue Pass). He/she will also be in charge of projects related to benefits, health and wellness. The successful candidate will be supported by a benefits coordinator and a benefits advisor.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all benefit programs. Responsible for the development and continuous improvement of benefits programs and their administration.
  • Optimize the employee experience by promoting the various benefit plans and programs offer, to our employees, the Talent Acquisition team, the HRBPs and the unions.
  • Responsible for updating policies and communication tools for the various benefit plans and programs in place.
  • Ensure sound governance of the various plans and programs.
  • Provide leadership for various committees related to employee benefits (e.g., RRSP/DPSP, benefits, Blue Pass, etc.) and work in collaboration with union representatives.
  • Maintain quality relationships and collaborate with various external suppliers (insurers, trustees, actuarial consultants, etc.) and work with them to optimize processes and services offered or to resolve various complex issues.
  • Take charge of the development of the health and wellness strategy and work in collaboration with various internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure the strategy's relevance, implementation and follow-up.
  • Act as the person in charge for modifications or renewals of agreements related to benefit plans and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts and service agreements with our suppliers.
  • Respond to the most complex requests and act as the ultimate resource person for HR team members, payroll department or employees in relation to benefits or working conditions.
  • Support the negotiating team during collective agreement renewals.
  • Monitor emerging trends and best practices in benefits programs and keep abreast of relevant legislation.
  • Manage the benefits team.
  • Participate in the many projects of the Global Compensation Department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in administration, human resources, actuarial science or other relevant discipline
  • 10+ years' specialized experience in employee benefits, including several years in a unionized environment and in a management position
  • Thoroughness, attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
  •  Ability to coordinate several files at the same time in a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in project management
  • Autonomous and able to take initiative
  • HR marketing skill
