Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for assisting users in the use of work tools (computer, software). He/she ensures the efficient operation of office equipment, and maintains and troubleshoots computers and peripherals according to established standards. He/she analyzes user requests, ensures they are processed quickly, provides solutions and resolves software and hardware problems. He/she also acts as a technical reference. This work can be performed on-site or online, depending on the assignment.

The incumbent reports to the head of the I.S. user department. There are no positions reporting to the incumbent, but he or she acts as a reference person for the team on the same site as the incumbent.

  • Enter queries, diagnose and resolve problems or transfer them to the appropriate support group if necessary, in order to meet reasonable or established response times.
  • Proactively follow up queries and ensure appropriate communication with users. This applies to his own queries, as well as those of people referring to him.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks on a daily basis.
  • Install, configure, maintain and move computers and peripherals according to established standards.
  • Advise users on software and hardware operating methods and upgrade versions.
  • Create and manage user accounts using appropriate tools.
  • Document the problem-solving process for each intervention in order to respond more adequately and effectively to future calls.
  • Place service calls for faulty printers, computers and peripherals with suppliers.
  • Update internal software and applications on client workstations and participate in production releases according to established standards.
  • Work closely with other department resources.
  • Suggest recommendations to improve IT products and reduce user problems.
  • Document procedures for the use of user applications.
  • Manage IT asset inventories. 
  • Keep abreast of developments in his field and constantly upgrade his technical skills.
  • Provide technical consulting services to other team members.

Qualifications

  • DEC or relevant IT training.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in IT support, installing and configuring equipment and software.
  • Bilingualism essential for the Montreal region (oral and written).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft environments.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly developed sense of organization and responsibility.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent initiative, autonomy, analytical skills and judgment.
  • Team spirit and ability to share information.
  • Willing to work on a 7/24 support basis.
