Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, fast-paced UK Government Relations and Public Policy Team as an Administrative Assistant, to support across the team learning the basics of Government Relations, while gaining exposure to our Director & Head of on a daily basis.

The role will be ideal for a recent graduate with a keen interest in politics, or someone coming from another administration role who with an interest in working in Governement Relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Diary management, including assisting with arrangements for the Director and Head of UK Government Relations.  
  • Handling administrative arrangements for meetings, including with internal colleagues, stakeholder organisations, officials and parliamentarians. 
  • Inbox management and correspondence, passing on queries to other team members as appropriate. 
  • Cost-effective travel management including flights, trains, taxis and accommodation. 
  • Expenses management and reporting. 
  • Undertaking written tasks and general office duties as needed. 
  • Supporting Trainline and Government Relations activity at events. 
  • Working ad-hoc to support the wider Corporate Communications Affairs function. 
  • Drafting letters and other material, and increasingly working independently on projects and initiatives to support the team and wider business 

Qualifications

  • A self-starter who has experience working autonomously within a fast-paced, ever-changing and pressurised environment. 
  • Ability to deliver against tight deadlines, manage competing priorities and prioritise workload effectively. 
  • Good communication and people skills, and confident when interacting with others. 
  • Ability to adjust communication style to align with different stakeholders. 
  • Attention to detail and a systematic and consistent approach to maintaining systems and processes. 
  • Competent IT knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Excellent team player with a propensity for helping others. 
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent 
  • Passionate about Trainline’s mission and values.
