Job Description

The role of the Head of People Operations is to lead a team in providing a world-class employee experience through a seamless end-to end People operational practice across all our locations (UK, Spain, France and Italy).  

The role will have accountability for managing the operations team across all touch points of the entire employee lifecycle from the offer process for new hires, to onboarding, induction, pay reviews, promotions processing, payroll and benefits, job changes through to offboarding.  They will work closely with the Head of Reward supporting through our annual cycles linked with including pay ranges, benchmarking, pay reviews and delivering benefits which drive talent attraction, retention and employee engagement across UK and Europe. 

Their stakeholders include the Talent Acquisition Team, HRBPs, Head of Reward, and the broader Trainline Management community as well as providing a vital service to all employees. 

Responsibilities 

  • Execute a seamless end to end HR operational service across the UK and Europe (key markets in EU: France, Spain and Italy)  

  • Design bold and innovative ways to use HR policies, compensation and benefits to attract talent, drive retention and employee engagement. 

  • Lead a Team of People Operations Partners across all office locations in ensuring we are supporting and advising our employees on all operational people matters that might come up.  

  • Ensure our payroll processes (managed via a 3rd party outsourced partner) are managed correctly and seamlessly via the operations team each month.  

  • Lead the end to end People operational processes from onboarding of new employees, pay reviews, promotions, job changes etc. 

  • Lead on HR policy development to ensure we are kept up to date and head on all changes, ensuring they reflect Trainline as a great place to work and focuses on the health and wellbeing of our employees 

  • Champion data, metrics and insights and use HR data to enable the team to make intelligent decisions and constantly drive for best practice 

  • Lead on HR systems to ensure the safety of our data, drive efficiency and provide the best service to our management population and employees 

  • Working in partnership with the Head of Reward and Company Secretary regarding the corporate governance agenda focusing on the DRR, Gender pay gap reporting and equal pay 

Qualifications

You’ll be an experienced HR professional with: 

  • experience in partnering with senior stakeholders in a high growth, Technology business 

  • extensive UK experience as well as a good understanding of people operations in EU markets such as France, Spain & Italy 

  • a proven track record in developing a People Operations agenda 

  • a deep knowledge of HR Operations, HR Systems and Reward processes 

  • an understanding of employment tax / payroll processing in the UK would be beneficial  

  • an ability to deliver at pace in a fast-moving, growth-focused business 

  • an ability to manage change and minimise complexity. 

  • a strong focus on continuous improvement, with an analytical and data-driven approach 

  • a collaborative style that builds effective working relationships 

  • strong, clear and credible communication skills 

  • experience of working in a Plc regarding the corporate governance framework 

  • experience of working with share plans in a Plc environment is beneficial
